I stayed at the Bavaro Palace Deluxe, located among other Barcelo hotels that together form the Bavaro Palace Barcelo in ... Punta Cana. This was supposed to be a 5 star resort. It is not. While the rooms are very impressive (including a jacuzzi in the balcony of each suite, and a great rain shower, among other amenities) the main problem is that the room cleaning service is terrible. In addition, the suite was not cleaned until 5:00 pm. I had many problems here, when I asked to speak to the manager I was told by a PR person "I just came back from vacations and have not seen the manager all day" She finally called, and was told that the manager was busy in a meeting. I asked them to have the manager call me the next day--She never did. Two days later I was able to speak to an asst. manager, and my last day the room was ready by noon. Clean towels (for the beach, and for the rooms) are a big problem, they never have enough, and you always have to wait for them. Checkout and check in can be a problem, as they only have 3 people taking care of this. Food is ok for the most part. Lots of fresh fruit. The beach is amazing. The service varies depending on where you eat and at what time. The Bar Mamey has excellent service and good cocktails, so does the casino. Stay away from the Dominican food restaurant and the Bohio restaurant. I had heard in the past that Barcelo resorts were not that good, now I know better to never spend my money in one of them again. DO NOT BE FOOLED BAVARO PALACE DELUXE may claim they are a 5 star resort, but it does not function like one.

We were very happy with the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Junior Suites. Ocean views with a jacuzzi on the deck - what more can you ... ask? Don't forget to bring your bubble bath! Great choice of restuarants and we found good food everywhere. Service was great. A small language barrier but the service people are so friendly and patient that it is easy to communicate. Great time at the pool bar in the late afternoons. It was very easy to use the water sports equipment also. The grounds are quite expansive so you can find peace and quiet or a lively atmosphere at any time. Loved the beach bar for lunch - you pick out your meat and or fish and they will cook it to order. Also loved the steak house! The only problem we had is that we made the mistake of booking a tour from the dive shop on the beach instead of at the hotel itself. [...] sold us a catamaran tour and we ended up on a very crowded dive boat!!! He totally misrepresented what the trip was about. When I asked to be refunded they refused "because we went on the trip". It's kind of hard not to when they pick you up at the hotel and do not tell you there is not a catamaran until you get there!! Anyway - lesson learned - I will dispute the charges but it in no way spoiled our trip.

This was our second trip to Punta Cana and it keeps getting better. Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe is a great resort with ... modern stylings, excellent location, great beach access, and good restaurants. This resort met our needs for a relaxing vacation with the option to take advantage of water activities, snorkeling, casino gaming, and our own jacuzzi on the private balcony (which all rooms have). The staff were friendly and made every effort to accommodate our needs, even if they didn't speak English. The food was OK, definitely recommend the French restaurant, it was the best. The other restaurants give you a pretty good variety. When we go back to Punta Cana (and we will), we'll definitely look to stay here again.

We have stayed several times at this resort and this time in the new "Junior Deluxe Suites".The resort was very good before ... and and with the major recontruction they've done it is even better.

The Palace Deluxe Junior Suites are awesome! We have been to Barcelo Bavaro 5 times previously, but this time was the best. ... Yes, some of the resort has changed ... previous Golf hotel is now Deluxe Family suites. It keeps the kids over there instead of on the beach or at the adult area. Casino hotel is now renovated and open once again. Caribe and Beach hotels are being renovated so everyone is put at the Palace Hotel. You won't notice what is closed. The food is better than before, the beach is still the most beautiful in Punta Cana. The new private hot tubs on each balcony are wonderful for watching beautiful sunsets. The staff knows a decent amount of English ... more than they used to. Ask for [...] at check in ... he's the best and knows English very well.

The experience that myself and my fiance had at the Bavaro Palace deluxe hotel was absolutely amazing. I heard mixed reviews ... and was a bit skeptical before arriving. But, that was pushed aside when I was greeted with many smiles and positive attitudes. The hotel staff their were very accommodating and though there was a language barrier it was easy enough to get across what you needed or wanted. The food was great and you never have to leave the resort because it is just so huge. This was my first trip to the Caribbean and it will definitely not be my last. Thanks for the great time!

Great experience at this hotel. Great place to relax. During off season they could use a little more activities. But if you ... are looking for just sun, water and relaxation than this is the perfect place. Alot of the staff speaks broken english, so have patience they are trying the best that they can. If you speak spanish it's a plus.

We were ther to watch our granddaughter while our children attended a wedding. However, we went to the wedding also, and ... were able to attend all of the festivities. I liked that we could just walk out of our room and be on the beach. Also, I liked that the restaurant was so close.

I went with my wife to the Palace Deluxe from Aug 10 to the 13 and it was pretty good. We were there for vacation and ... celebrating our second anniversary. The best in my opinion was the food and drinks at the deluxe pretty good for the price.

We stayed at the Barecelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe. The room was very clean and nicely kept! Beautiful view of the ocean. We ... relaxed on the beach, on our balcony in our private hot tub. Everything was walking distance. They have a Plaza where you can buy gifts. Theres no need to leave the resort. They have shows almost every night. Theres plenty of water activities that are included. Everyone was pleasant and friendly. Very peaceful relaxing environment.

The check in was very slow and disorganize. The people at the front desk were friendly. The room wasn't clean and they have ... blood spots in the covers plus it was very dirty. There was not outlet to plug a hair dryer at the bathroom. There was a connection that was cut and with electrical tape around it. We paid to much money for the place that has no difference with other hotels in the complex. There were no 16 restaurants the way you show in the website; two hotels in the complex are out of service. We paid for a place that doesn't exist; "Bavaro Palace Deluxe" is not there. The employees are very friendly. "Coco Tours" that handle our transportation make us wait today for 45 minutes to take us to the airport .

The Check in was very slow. When we got there room was not ready and we had to wait about an hour after check in time.We are ... a couple and were checked into a room with two small beds. They would not change use til the following day. After a long wait a verbal battle we finally had our room changed the following day. The lobby staff is not efficient or very friendly. Once we got past that everything else was good. The service in the restaurants were slow but if you tip them a couple of bucks it really improves. They will also remember you the next time you come in. The food and drinks were great and plentiful. The beach was beautiful and relaxing. Lined with palm trees and white sand.They also have a casino which is entertaining but don't expect to win!The night club is nice to unwind as well. Overall it was a good experience but check in and service could be better.

I basically drank, ate, and lounged on the beach all day, went for long walks along the water. I really didnt enjoy being ... alone as much as I thought I would. I would have enjoyed my stay more with a friend or partner. Even though I was lonely, this probably was one of my better, most memorable vacations to date!

the rooms were not the ones we reserv they give us any other room (chipper clase). that was abeliable at the time and did not ... compensate us for the inconviniance they said that we will have to get the refound from you chip ticket.

We stayed at Barcello Bavarro Palace Deluxe and we had a great family time. We signed up for excursion but my husband got ... sick. We decided to stay in the hotel and enjoy the view, beach & pools. It was a well rested vacation. Food were great and a lot. Nothing much to do if you just stay in the hotel. There's security all around and it makes us feel safe. It would have been nice if we had gone on a excursion but we could not. Compare to our cruise to Bahamas, this trip is our second best vacation.

The beach and the pools were beautiful. Definately a place to rest and enjoy the sun. The junior suites were very modern and ... nice. However, if you do not speak Spanish your service is not the best. Not many of the employees speak fluent English. It was difficult at times to get across what we wanted or needed. Also, the room copy of the resort guide was only available in Spanish.

DO NOT STAY HERE!

I stayed at this resport with my wife and another couple. hear is our review of Barcelo Palace DEluxe. This resort needs ... many improvements. Lets start with the unfriendly and rude staff throughout the resport (all bartenders, waiter/waitress, housekeepers,casino staff.....everyone). The beach staff sits behind a desk all day and tell "come back in a 1/2 hour" and never follow through on there promises. The ENTIRE staff has selective hearing. I tried to tip everyone to help speed up the service and all you get is slower service. Mid-way through our trip we stopped tipping b/c there was no difference in service. If you do not speak spanish, you are going to have a tuff time EVERYWHERE in the resort. It seemed as if the staff would not even try to listen to you if you didn't speak spanish. The food: TERRIBLE! I read all the reviews prior to going and everyone that says the food is good, does not know what good food is. If you think Mcdonald's is "great" food then you will like the food at this resort. Orbitz does not tell you that half of the resort is shut down for renovations and therefore the resturant choices are narrowed down to 7 instead of 14. If you do go to this resort eat at the french resturant everyday. Pay the money, it's well worth it. Entertainment: What a joke! We went to the show one night and all it consisted of was girls in a thong all dancing out of sequence. Looked like they just learned te preformance the night before. The casino games are normal, but againt the staff is very unfriendly and make you feel unwanted. The Rooms: They are nice w/ a hot tub on the balcony, but again the staff screws this up. there were 4 of the 8 days we stayed when the housekeper NEVER came to our room (Great service, huh?). When she did come the room was nice and clean. Overall this place was for someone who can eat lousy food, terrible service, horrific entertainment, and 2 tiny pools. I have stayed at several all-inclusives thoughout the caribbean and this is by far the worst! I stayed at the Barcelo in Riveria Maya and this place doesnt even compare! Best meal of our trip was the grilled chicken sandwich at Wendy's at the airport the day of departure! Best part of the trip was leaving for home!

The Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe - Jr. Suite was simply WONDERFUL. The rooms were very clean and well stocked. The bed was ... very comfortable and firm. The staff were extremely friendly though communication was at times a little difficult. The air conditioning never got cool-just confortable. The only bad experience we had was the towel guy he was VERY RUDE. We were steps from the beach. The compound consisted of 4 or 5 hotels and we were alble to walk up or down the beach and stop at any of the other hotels and eat/drink. The food was always hot and fresh. And the dining staff always seemed to try to make sure that your meals were enjoyable. Everything was 10 min. or less walking distance-the disco, either casino, shopping. Shopping was fun but we found that every vendor has the exact same items so it was more about pricing. We were very apprehensive about the hotel because of limited info about this hotel but it was TERRIFIC. I would definately return!!! we never did find the exercise room or pool but we had the beach and long walks instead.
