Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe - All Inclusive

After not being assigned the "Ocean front" room that I had paid for upon check in, I was done so rightaway once I brought it to their attention. After that, everything was great. My personal favorite were my morning hours spent in the well equipped gym and the spa area which consists of a sauna, turkish hammam and hydrotherapy pools! Although the employees speak primarily Spanish, they make EVERY attempt to understand, are very friendly and one is able to make one's needs understood. I overheard someone speak about the lack of English fluency; but if you go to another non English speaking country, whether in Europe or South America, one does need to accommodate and not be on a "high horse"! Great food, good beach and a great Spa Area!

Great location, 20 minutes from airport. PERFECT & PRIVATE beach. Something for everyone, from couples to kids. Great night time restaurants that require reservations. Horrible buffet...I'm NOT picky at all about food, but eating at the buffet everyday was pretty brutal. No variety. 7 days of the SAME COLD food. My kids and myself all got sick there. If they had better quality buffet food that was simply warm, this place would be PERFECT in all aspects. 3 days after our vacation, we are all still paying for it, if you know what I mean!

I will never ever return to this hotel! First off, they claim to be this 5 star establishment, which they are not! I stayed in the Junior Deluxe Suite with oceanfront view. They stole my tmobile phone from my room on the night before my departure, and they all stole my companions watch. Now I can replace a phone, but not the pictures of certain memories in it. To top it off, we noticed these missing items at the check out desk, they acted very non-chalant and uncompassionate for any of our losses. It took them 2 hours to bring a "hotel manager" to us, and although we gave them a timeline of when the robbery must have taken place (we were at the casino from 10 pm - 2 am) they could not pull up the security information about the card access opening our suite door. Now they must be used to dealing with people that don't know how to defend themselves, or just have the luxury of not feeling the loss of a 500 dollar phone, but I DO! Its the principle and what a personal violation. Poor customer service, highly overpriced gift shops, no kind of lost and found or claims center, and to top it off they didn't even comp the two phone calls we made from the room. Don't fall for the scam, they know when you are in the casino, at the theater, in the restaurants, etc. so they can set themselves up to enter your room while someone else in the scam is watching you as you are out of the room. They can't print out a security door access log, but they can sure print a check out bill ASAP. Mark my words, I will be reimbursed in some way shape or form!!

I take 10-14 of our sales people each year to a 7 day all inclusinve resort. This is the third Barcelo resort we have stayed at. We love Barcelo resorts. This resort is very nice and similar to our expectations of a Barcelo. Now, why I gave it one star... The people who work here are very rude. I have only met one staff member that can speak fluent english. Yesterday they did not make-up our room. If you call for towels, make three phone calls and wait an hour and they will arrive. They have a casino here. I have never been in a casino where not one of the dealers smiled. If you did not place your bet fast enough, they hit there hand in front of your bet spot until you bet. We have been to two other Barcelo resorts. Barcelo Palace in Riviera Maya Mx and Barcelo Puerta Villarta Mx. The resorts were great and the staff were better. I beleive it is the Dominical people in general. From the moment we got off the airplane, we noticed how rude the people were. And they charge everyone $10 to get into the country... The food... The food is not very good compared to the other Barcelo resorts. Again, I beleive the staff really takes no pride in their work. If you are considering this resort, I suggest considering a Barcelo in Mexico. You will enjoy your time much better with a staff that cares about their guests.

The reviews scared me abit...but the resort is beautiful inside and the beach is just amazing.I am a beach person and have been to many islands and Punta Cana years ago the palms on the beach make it so special... the only complaint is the resturants be awhere that you have to stand in line to get a ticket for reservations about 5pm... and you have to have at least sandles on and a cover up ladies no bathing suit straps showing ~men have to have long pants and a nice shirt on...thats just to get your ticket...there are other places to eat so dont freak out...Unless you like to dine early you can come dressed for dinner at 5pm and you will be seated right away...than when the resturant is full they give you yor ticket...That service needs to be fixed i say reservations made over the phone would work out better...also if you are an American there arent alot of us there...alot of nice people from all over the world...i would go back...the decor is very nice very modern just go have fun

I should say that I was very hesitant about my selection after booking because of all of the negative reviews which had been made here. After staying at the resort I cannot imagine where half of these complaints come from. The resort was amazing and I would absolutely go back again! I was happy to make this selection; I spoke with many other guests who were staying at other Barceló hotels in this resort compound who had made plans to transfer to the Palace Deluxe because it was such a better experience than the other locations on the Barceló resort property in Punta Cana. Check-in was slow but this was simply because I arrived before the scheduled check-in time and at the same time as many other guests. The resort service was fine, there was definitely a language barrier and I think my service would have been better if I spoke Spanish but I have nothing negative to say about the staff. Housekeeping was top notch; they arrived every day before I woke and simply made it a point to come back at a later time while I was at the beach. I paid the extra money for an ocean view room and am very grateful to have done so, the view was amazing and it was substantially less than the cost of ocean front. Given my room on the 2nd floor I had a better view of the beach and ocean than my friends who were ocean front. The food was good but nothing to write home about, my favorite restaurants were the adult Mediterranean restaurant and the Mexican restaurant. Seating around the pool was difficult to find during the busier hours but most people just set a towel on pool chair early in the day to mark their spot. The only complaints I have would be that my hot tub leaked when it filled which was more of a problem for the people below me than anyone. The bedside phone did not work properly but it did call-out to the front desk whenever I needed it. I asked for a king bed but received a room with 2 doubles, I was told when I checked in that it would be based on availability but could move later in the week if a room became available. For many of the more popular restaurants there was a considerable wait if you did not eat early and we found ourselves making alternative plans often. Otherwise I really have nothing negative to say about this resort.

Everything there was great! The resort is super big and beautiful. The rooms are really nice and clean. Lots to do there especially for the kids. My husband and I spent 5 days at the resort and overall we loved the experience. Some of the staff members were a bit moody. Lots of places to eat however the buffet was the same everyday. I wish they would change the food a bit everyday. Overall great experience!

Very nice and clean resort with good good food and very friendly staff....would return in a heartbeat to Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe!!!!

The hotel allows you to have diferent kinds of activities from going out to dinner to go snuba with friends and family. the only thing that could be better is the coustomer service, in my experience there was a lack of good service attendants. beside this we think the trip was the better one i have ever done

Perfect place for families with kids. Many activities available and included in the price. Expectacular beach. The food at the buffet is good (although it could be improved) but variety wise it is perfect; and the food at the restaurants "a la carte" is very good.
