not the best but not the worst
overall the hotel was beautiful but compare to the newer establishments it needs remodeling the rooms where always clean, the grounds were beautifully kept so over all for the place it was nice just needs to be updated. The food was blah definitely needs more variety. the a la cart restaurants are a tad better. there is no food over ten unless you consider the hot dog stand with something that seemed to be hot dogs absolutely gross. i went with my girlfriend we are a couple in our early 30s and wanted to have some night life and there is not any on the grounds, you have to go outside of the resort which was fine but their nightly performances were horrible. overall nice hotel needs new entertainment , better food, and remodeling the staff is great but will not be staying here again.

This is definitely a family place. The food could have been better. I wish that they would include more of their country's culture and do better at American food.

Spring Break
We had a wonderful time at the VH Gran Ventana. We had never been to the Dominican but this was a great deal so we thought we'd give it a try. It is not a 5 star resort, but a good 4 star. The rooms and buffet food are adequate, the a la carte restaurants are very good. The beach is cleaned every day and the snorkeling is great. Wifi is not free, but down the street at the Roadway bar it is- buy a beer and they are happy. Very close to the airport so no wasted time getting to and from the resort. We met some wonderful Canadian friends. One shopping tip- prices are very high with the beach hawkers, but walk left along the beach and the Orange Market will charge about a third. We will be back!

Excellent all inclusive resort. Rooms are very adequate. Food at the buffet is OK. Food at the Octopus Restaurant is fantastic. Pools and grounds are very clean. Staff is for the most part friendly. BEWARE!! do NOT shop from the beach vendors. They are way way way over priced. You can go to the "Orange Market" for a fraction of the cost and it is only a 15-20 min walk on the beach. Overall great vacation resort especially for the price. Would go again, would recommend to a friend

Overall the experience was fine. The beds were hard. The food was ok. Buffet repetitive and boring. The Ala carte restaurants were better. Overall we had a good time. Hard not to have a good time in a tropical paradise.

Lovely Getaway!
Wonderful week at the Gran Ventana. Service was excellent. Food was much better than most inclusive resorts. Very large pool area - no problem getting lounges even though it was a holiday week. Rooms need some updating but you don't spend much time in your room. Very clean and air conditioner kept the room cool.

Pleasantly surprised
The Gran Ventana was much nicer than I expected. We booked it just a week in advance and wasn't sure what to expect, since we'd never stayed at an all-inclusive before. The rooms were nice and very clean. (We booked a junior suite, which is very large, but doesn't have any more furniture than the regular room so it's not really very practical.) The food was good (occasionally very good). The staff was very nice. The beach is beautiful, but you need to work hard to get a chair. Drinks were plentiful. And as a gay couple we felt very comfortable. All in all, a very relaxing, very nice experience.

Of the 3 a la carte restaurants, the ocean grill is the nicest. And the best food I thought was at the afternoon snack bar in the same location o the ocean.

Great Time
Reading reviews I saw a few negatives, in my experience the only true downfall was the quality of the drinks, no top shelf liquor! I found the food to be good, lots of choices The beach is great, except as in all the resorts the vendors are annoying The pools are nice and clean Overall my stay was worth every cent
