The Iberostar in Puerto Plata, DR. Should be a place that is banned for International Travel.

Vacation with the friends

That was my first time visit to Peurto Plata, and I have to said that my husband and I was very dissapointed. Hotel is Old and deffenitely needs updateds . We smell in our room a molds. Also it time for a new towels they were old and very harsh on our skin. Beach was agly and dirty so we don't want to walk anymore on the beach. Whoever taking care of this resorts should hire more people so the resort looks much better. There was no hard liquer in the room which suprice us. This in not our first time to be in all inclusive resorts and hard liquer was always in mini bar. In main bar they have very limited hard liquer and if you not tell what you want, so they serve you with chepper vodka. This was our last time visit Peurto Plata. Go see Punta Cana is totaly diffrent, clean and very pritty. I already write the review once, and was not posted so see if this time will be posted.

Vacation with the friends

Hotel was OK! but not so great. Hotel is old and the beach are very dirty. Whoever managing this resort should focus more cleaning the beach. We are coming there to see clean beach. Whoever post this hotel on webside said you can enjoy walk for miles on the beach, but who wants to walk on agly dirty beach. I have been before in Punta Cana and was so nice and clean and beach was gorgeus. So Costa Dorada resorts you have a lot of work what needs to be done if you want to people to visit you there.

IBEROSTAR IS NOT 5 OR 4 STAR

THE ROOM WE CHECKED INTO WAS NOT UP TO STANDARD-THE A/C WAS NOISY-THE SAFE WAS NOT ATTACHED TO THE WALL I COULD CARRY IT AROUND THE ROOM-THERE WERE ANTS ALL OVER THE ROOM-THE CEILING FAN HAD ONE SPEED AND THAT WAS FAST-WE HAD A 3 MONTH OLD AND WE WERE PUT ON THE SECOND FLOOR WHICH WAS DIFFICULT TO GET THE STROLLER UP AND DOWN THE STAIRS- NO ELEVATOR-BUFFET FOOD WAS GOOD-DRINKS ALWAYS A PROBLEM, THEY WERE WEAK IN ALCOHOL, NO CHOICE TO PURCHASE BOTTLED BEER-MY DADS PASSPORT WAS STOLEN FROM HIS ROOM-HE WILL NOW HAVE TO STAY AT THE HOTEL FOR ANOTHER TEN DAYS WHILE I SORT IT OUT WITH THE PASSPORT OFFICE IN IRELAND-BEING OUTSIDE THE HOTEL IS NOT REALLY WORTH IT, ITS LIKE THE WILD WEST,PEOPLE DRIVE LIKE CRAZY AND ITS SO POLLUTED WITH GARBAGE IN THE STREETS AND RIVERS, THE AIR IS POLLUTED WITH MOPEDS, TRUCKS AND CARS THAT NEVER HAD AN OIL CHANGE- I HAVE TRAVELLED AROUND THE WORLD AND I AM OPEN MINDED TO PLACES AND HOW PEOPLE LIVE,BUT THIS WAS NOT UP TO ANY STANDARD.THE HOTEL WAS NICE AND CLEAN ECT. I LIKE TO EXPLORE AND SEE OUTSIDE THE HOTEL, THATS THE POINT OF GOING AWAY.

Delicious desserts, poor booze.

We made it to Puerto Plata just in time for rainy season, so out of the 7 days we were there, we only had two full days of sunshine. The resort was very nice, the service was good, the food was very edible and plentiful, the desserts, however, were quite delicious! We would go to another Iberostar, but not in Puerto Plata.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Beware of the those vendors! They are VULTURES. In fact, I preferred to spend more money in the hotel shop than have to deal with them again.

Great Vacation!

Location was great, about 20-25 minutes from Puerto Plata Airport. Staff was super-friendly and the reception area was very nice! The room we checked in to was very clean, although a little outdated. A 19" tube TV, power outlets that require adapters, and no clock were the things that stood out. About the power outlets, if you have a standard 110V plug it won't be a problem. Any other type of charger or power brick will require an adapter they sell at the hotel store for 95 pesos. Talk about maximizing profits! Water pressure was not very strong and water temps were not stable once a toilet was flushed or the sink faucet was turned on. The main buffet dinners were awesome on the themed nights. Plan your a la carte restaurants around the buffet's themed nights and you won't go wrong with food at this hotel. The seafod a la carte restaurant I would stay away from, just not too good. The pool was big but areas around the pool surface were chipped or stained, same with the the spa hot tubs. Definitely in need of a make-over. Despite the negatives I've mentioned, my trip was very relaxing, liquor was flowing, and I had a great time.

Puerta Plata is just so-so

Food was great and plentiful, however if you were not up at 6am when to reserve your spot ont he beach with a towel, you were stck with sitting under a tree or directly in the sun.

Great get away

Overall the stay was ok. The food was very good and staff at the buffet was very good. The desk help left much to be desired. Rooms were clean but very dated, needs uplift. Overall the stay was satisfying. Do not advise leaving the hotel unless on an excursion. Hotel staff was not accomodating or informative about leaving the hotel. I should have been made aware of the flim flam artists at the gate of the resort who jumped in the cab with me and hussled me for money!

One night in each restaurant is sufficient since the menu did not change at all from one day to the next.
