Furious Travel Agent
"The worst vaction package"
Rated 4 stars, but it's seem like a 1 star hotel.Room smelled so bad that we have to rubbed Vapor Rub on all of us to beat the smell. Room was infested with big, and I meant BIG cockroaches. Reading Lamp without shade. Chair with 1 broken leg... (Pictures will be provided if needed). [...] Cables broken, so no TV for the first 3 days. Wi Fi never work. Internet Center that we have to buy a 15 minutes, or 30 minutes card to use have only 2 computers and most of the time were occupied by children playing game, so no internet, no printer. The only room amenity is 1 shampoo and 2 soaps and no replacement will be given unless you have to ask. Never have enough beach towels at either locations...Ask to change rooms 3 times, and each time was promised...tomorrow...tomorrow...tomorrow, but nothing was done until we gave up. I'm a travel agent, and I have took hundred of vacations during the last 25 years and have never seen a four stars hotels like this before. I would never [...] stay with WYNDHAM again.

Worst Hotel..Worst Vacation EVER!
We were celebrating a very special anniversary on 10-10-10. Emailed customer relations 3 times...no response. Called, was switched to customer relations..no one answered. Reserved King rm with fridge, MW, stocked mini-bar and coffeemaker. Two out of 4 ain't bad huh? They first gave us a room with 2 double beds. When we objected and re-explained that this was a 2nd honeymoon of sorts, they had to make-up a recently vacated King room. NO WASH CLOTHS IN THIS COUNTRY...period. They do not know what they are. Maybe 4 people in 7 days who spoke ANY english at all. Hotel staff does not know where or when activities are. We were to have internet in ourroom because I had a class start while I was on vacation. Laughable! You had to go down everyday and pay $10/day to get a code that may or may not work at all. If you went early, they said they would not have codes till 3. If you went at 3 or 4, they told you they were out andyou should have come earlier. If you use their internet cafe room it is more and they shave 10-15 minutes off the time they sell you, then the computers are so slow it takes all your time to load your screen. So, nohomework got done. Don't try to use your cell...you have to buy ORANGE..the Dominican phone service. We were supposedto have dance lessons and cooking lessons, them nights and bars, restaurants open 24 hours. Forget it! Dance lessons are at lunch and dinner time and are really lame. No cooking lessons at all. No theme nights at all. Onepathetic pizza shop open all night, and they never had any pizza! We joined VIP and things did not get better. The disco was never open and there are still restaurants that we never found. No one knew how to rent equipment or do any excursions, so we did none. All-in-all it stunk, we were lonely for conversation and I was bored and frustrated over school. The employees, except for the maid, were incredibly rude and unfriendly. We were told by staff that that was becausethey catered to French and Italian visitors and did not have much use for American visiotrs. I will never go back to the Dominican Republic again. Which is fine, becausewith the bed falling on one side, the bathtub had huge hunks [like 2 foot sections] eaten away in it, the sink was falling out of the counter, the humidity fan was useless and the air was either arctic or non-existent. Go somewhere else to an all-inclusive that knows what that means and save yourself $2000. For $2000 I can go to Jamaica and feel like a VIP whether I am or not, and actually get a drink with a smile and courtesy.

Don't book the trip in the first place. Huge rip-off in LaRomana. Stick with Punta Cana or someplace that MAY have helpful, service oriented and possibly english speaking personnel, as well as modern amenities.

A VERY UNSATISFIED Customer.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!
My trip to Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace - All Inclusive (8-17-2010 - 8-24-2010) was HORRIBLE.... So on Friday (day 3) I noticed some water on the bathroom floor (forming a little puddle) I didn't think much of it and went on with the day. That night when I returned to my room I noticed a bit MORE water in the bathroom on the floor, I called the front desk and they told me they were coming. We took our showers and eventually fell asleep (NO ONE CAME) the next day I called AGAIN (because now the water is also in the bedroom along the wall) and they said they were sending some one right over (AGAIN) so 4 HOURS LATER maintenance came the guy looked at the floor followed the water around into the bathroom came back rubbed the wall and told me that ALL THAT WATER came from the A.C. so I said you mean to tell me that, that's the A.C. because if so that means we CAN NOT turn on the A.C. which means this needs to be fixed or we need another room. He said it's fine, he cleaned up the water and left. We went to sleep and woke up to a FLOODED bathroom and half way flooded bedroom. I called the front desk AGAIN and they say some one's coming right away (this was at 10:30 A.M.)... So at 3 P.M. I walked over to the front desk (because they kept telling me they were coming when I called) so I walked over there and they told me that IF IT'S STILL LIKE THAT @ 5 P.M. that then and ONLY THEN could they change my room... I left the front desk (quite upset) and got back to my room (within minutes) and the ceiling in my bathroom they had COMPLETELY TAKEN APART (because all that water that supposedly came from the "AC" was actually the bathroom upstairs that had been backed up and coming through the ceilings) went to dinner came back 6:15 they were finishing. The housekeeper was "cleaning" the bathroom. She left I went into the bathroom and not only did I NOT smell even a hint of BLEACH or DISINFECTANT. I got in the bathroom and just about threw up. There were pieces of toilette paper, feces, and food on the walls. So I went over to the front desk AGAIN and they told me that I should have came back at 5 and now she could not move me cause there were NO ROOMS available. I asked to speak to a manager and she told me I had to make an appt to speak to the manager. So I said I have no time to make an appt. I need a room ASAP because I was NOT sleeping in that room I told her I have a 4 yr. old that needs to take a shower, brush her teeth, use the bathroom and some more stuff and that I WAS NOT SLEEPING IN THAT ROOM she went back and forth with me for about 15 - 20 minutes telling me that there's nothing she can do cause there were NO ROOMS available so I told her then I guess my family & I will be sleeping in her lobby because we will NOT be sleeping in that room. I told her I was going to get my luggage and we were going to camp out in this lobby and it was then (as I started to walk away) that she said well I can give you keys to a different room and you can go see if you want to sleep there (like I had a choice at this point) so she gives me the key tells me that she don't know which way the room is and that if I follow the signs I should find it.... So what she did was gave me the keys to a room that was on the 3rd floor (no more view & NO ELEVATOR) it was WAY smaller than my original room and was a BIG inconvenience. The water pressure was HORRIBLE and if you took a shower you had to wait about 20-30 minutes to flush the toilette. The 1 ONLY good thing about this room was there were NO MOSQUITOS in this room.... At the end of the day I WOULD NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER go there or stay at another WYNDHAM anything..... Besides that nightmare the beach was beautiful, the wait staff was EXCELLENT, the pool was pretty small but it was nice, the staff (MINUS the front desk & guest Services) was very friendly (although NONE of them speak much English). The food was HORRIBLE but the drinks were GREAT... Been traveling for years (& I will continue) but I t...

nice but not 4stars
They do have a fair amount of things to do. And there is a lot of nice things about the look of the hotel but it is not well kept. The housekeepers did a nice job and cleaned and mopped the rooms really well every day. The rooms had beautiful tile floors and pretty stone and granite bathrooms but there was a lot of wear and tare. The floor tile was pretty scratched... probably because some of the furniature was missing things on the bottom on the legs. The bed was ok but the frame was broken and made noise when you sat on it and sank in. The sheets and pillows were just very basic not uncomfortable but again not 4 star quality at all more like cheap hotel quality. The beach however was beautiful. The grounds were kept up very well. The gardiners worked very hard and they even rebuilt some roofs while we were there. They clearly work very hard to keep the place up on the outside just need a little more work on the inside. We only went to one show and it was a game show type.. we left because it was completly in spanish which is to be expected in another country. The music was also extremely loud... painful to sit there not very enjoyable and like others have said easily heard from your room. We didnt drink much, we had the all inclusive plan, the mixed drinks were not favorable they were extremely sugary. Not refreshing but they had two slushie like drinks that wew non alocholic constantly avaliable, a pina colada like drink and a bananamama drink that was delicious! There were not a lot of options for excursioins. I really wanted to go horseback riding. When we went we had to leave the safety of the resort walk a shot ways down the road to a very sketchy looking barn, Im sure it would have been fine but there were no other tourists there and it made us uncomfortable to go on a horse thru a foreign country with people who couldnt speak english so we didnt go. It was a relaxing trip. If you want a quiet beach vaca just make sure you find a spot far away from the entertainment crew because its loud on the beach too but over all it was nice. I wouldnt go back, I would probably go to a more popular part of the island but it was ok.

We had the all inclusive package so we got to do things at both hotels. The hotel layout isnt perfectly ideal so on the first day I went on a long walk to get a good feel of the grounds. Different activities are offered all day but for some of them you need to take a lesson first so if you want to do everything take a good look around and plan accordingly on when you want to do what.

Beautiful location, rooms are really bad
First 3 days beautiful weather, then Hurracane Thomas. Check in was nice and fast.Food was standard nothing amazing but fresh and tasty, hotel grounds were clean and beautiful. However rooms are poor kept, needed improvement, housekeeping terrible, daily problems with towels and No toilet treats, This was the worst hotel room I ever had, (I have been in DR more than 10 times), Good animation, great aerobics and dancing classes are very nice.

Not what I expected but OK for the price
The personnel from guest services is NOT polite at all! I called like 10 times while I was in my room to ask questions and NO ONE answered the phone!! They ONLY have ITALIAN entertainment and not only Italian people go there!!!! They have to add more activities and entertainment for other nationalities as well!!! The bed sheets were dirty, not enough toilet paper, not enough soup, not enough towels, they have to improve a lot!!! I am not asking for a 5 STAR hotel service but something much better than what they offer!!! The room service is done in the afternoon not in the morning like is usually done!!!! This resort needs a lot of improvements!!!! Not the worse ever but it could be way better!!!!! Oh by the way, the AC is GREAT!!!! ;-P

My review of Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace - All Inclusive
The quality of the beds was very poor. I still have a backache. The bed only had a mattress with no support underneath such as a boxspring.

"Interesting" Experience
My experience at Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace was a good one. The staff was AMAZING! Everyone is very friendly, more than willing to make sure you are enjoying yourself, and always at your service. I wish I would have known how far away the hotel was from Santo Domingo airport. Although my room was clean and spacious I expected more from the 4 star rating. Overall the experience was very enjoyable. There was always something to do. The hotel grounds were beautiful and very clean. The rooms were just missing something extra to make it a 4 star experience.
