It is a wonderful hotel, beautiful environment. Great food and drinks. The only wrong is that we were left waiting for 4 hours at the hotel for the check-in. That was tiring and uncomfortable...

Viva Wyndham Dominicus--Bayahibe
Beautiful, crystal, blue water and good weather. There was something to do at all times of the day whether learning a new dance, Aqua Gym (water aerobics), or scheduling in eating at the different restaurants. Side trips to La Saona and Catalina Island were only okay since I was looking for good sites to snorkel. The only snorkeling was in front of our hotel where the only reefs on this side of the coast are located. If you are not a night person, there was no entertainment since the programs began at 11:30 at the Beach location. Otherwise, the program at the Dominicus began around 10:00 and were generally silly except for the local dance show. No casino as advertised and the disco opened at 11:30! For a single person, there was little mixing and mingling with the mostly European tourists. We learned that the guests at the Dominicus paid for the All Inclusive while the guests at The Beach which is on the same grounds did not. So the buffet on that side of the property were very busy while the one in our hotel was not. We learned to stay at our side for the buffet. There was variety to the food offerings yet nothing guormet.

Forget about booking a reservation for the Chinese or Mexican restaurants and the Grill. The most romantic and best menu was at Viva Restaurant right on the shoreline!

nice but not 4stars
They do have a fair amount of things to do. And there is a lot of nice things about the look of the hotel but it is not well kept. The housekeepers did a nice job and cleaned and mopped the rooms really well every day. The rooms had beautiful tile floors and pretty stone and granite bathrooms but there was a lot of wear and tare. The floor tile was pretty scratched... probably because some of the furniature was missing things on the bottom on the legs. The bed was ok but the frame was broken and made noise when you sat on it and sank in. The sheets and pillows were just very basic not uncomfortable but again not 4 star quality at all more like cheap hotel quality. The beach however was beautiful. The grounds were kept up very well. The gardiners worked very hard and they even rebuilt some roofs while we were there. They clearly work very hard to keep the place up on the outside just need a little more work on the inside. We only went to one show and it was a game show type.. we left because it was completly in spanish which is to be expected in another country. The music was also extremely loud... painful to sit there not very enjoyable and like others have said easily heard from your room. We didnt drink much, we had the all inclusive plan, the mixed drinks were not favorable they were extremely sugary. Not refreshing but they had two slushie like drinks that wew non alocholic constantly avaliable, a pina colada like drink and a bananamama drink that was delicious! There were not a lot of options for excursioins. I really wanted to go horseback riding. When we went we had to leave the safety of the resort walk a shot ways down the road to a very sketchy looking barn, Im sure it would have been fine but there were no other tourists there and it made us uncomfortable to go on a horse thru a foreign country with people who couldnt speak english so we didnt go. It was a relaxing trip. If you want a quiet beach vaca just make sure you find a spot far away from the entertainment crew because its loud on the beach too but over all it was nice. I wouldnt go back, I would probably go to a more popular part of the island but it was ok.

Sightseeing tip:
In Hotel
We had the all inclusive package so we got to do things at both hotels. The hotel layout isnt perfectly ideal so on the first day I went on a long walk to get a good feel of the grounds. Different activities are offered all day but for some of them you need to take a lesson first so if you want to do everything take a good look around and plan accordingly on when you want to do what.

Very friendly place
It is close to airport (it important after more than 10h flight) Ground floor room was great flamingos just outside the balcony. Nice pools with veru different ambiances. All service people were particularly friendly to our 14 month old baby. Food was good, but a bit monotonous for longer stay. Beach was nice and clean, same for gardens and rooms

great time at dominicus palace
had a great time. the hotel is very nice kept. the beach is amazingly beautiful. there is a coral reef less than 2 hundred feet from shore. the buffet has a lot of varieties since since you have access to the sister resort, the dominicus beach.

Good and not so good
First the not so good. The ride from Santo Domigo is like a thrill ride at the circus and very long (about 2 hours). The beds were not very comfortable so we asked the first day to replace the mattress which they never did. The rooms need some serious updating. Water and toilet paper are hard to come by. Mini bar is nonexistent. Security in the rooms was poor. Americans are the redheaded stepchild at this resort. On the good side we did meet some very nice people from the U.S., Canada, Italy and D.R. The beach is one of the nicest we have seen. The buffet was ok (lunch at the beach was the same everyday) and the alacarte resturants were very good. Entertainment at the beach resort was nice and evening shows were excellent. The Palace shows are just for Italians. Snorkeling trip was nice and snorkeling at the resort was ok.

50 and 50
It was a great experience, however, I did not like the way how staff tries customer, especially in the from desk. The customer services at the from desk could be much better if they explain to you all you can be doing, or not, rules, suggestion, etc. rather than just give you the paper and send you to your room after the 1 1/5 hours that I was waiting for them to give me the key.
