Lovely family vacation

Actually, I agree with many of the things I read. The rooms are sparesly furnished but kept clean. The rooms miss some amenities such as a box of tissues, remote control for the TV, garbage cans, comfortable chair or table. Only soap & shampoo was provided - no other amenities. But the grounds and beach are beautiful. Even though it was Christmas week, there was ample seating and shade on the long beach. We never had to wait for a table in the buffet restaurants. Food was plentiful and okay in the buffet restaurants. Drinks & snacks were provided all day at the beach bars. The food was more exceptional at the restaurants (by reservation only). It was the perfect place to relax with a book on the beach.

Awesome resort:) :)

This is # 1 on our favorite places we have stayed. Long stretch of soft sand beach, along with crystal clear water and AMPLE beach lounges and palm trees for shade, windsurfing, kayaks, boogie boards...what else could we ask for!!!! The rooms could use an upgrade, but we bearly stayed in it. Animation team was fabulous, very friendly and upbeat and always had something going on. The shows were entertaining and fun. The buffet was practically the same everyday. I highly recommend the a la carte "Il Placa "and "La Roca"...excellent food make sure you make reservations as soon as you arrive since they book quickly. We enjoyed the resort so much that we didn't do any excursions. If you wish to bring some souvenirs home, buy them from the resort. The stores just outside the resort tried to rip us off big time. There is quite a variety inside and had very friendly people and more reasonable prices. ENJOY=)

we had a wonderful time the resort is beautiful and huge i wasnt expecting it to have as many pools ect.. the ocean was beautiful we bought snorkeling gear and wwent snorkeling right there and saw lots of fish .. the food was great .. the service most of the time was good .. and for the price you cant complain about anything ..pool parties every night ..aerobics in the ocean, dance lessons, trapeze, archery, night club, beach volleyball and more... my only complaint we needed to find change to play pool and it was difficult to find pesos the front desk should of had plenty and they had none so we had to ask the employees. i definately will go back!

the beach made it worth while

the beach definitely made it worth while. This was my first time in La Romana and at Viva Wyndham. The service were friendly except that it seemed that they were short staffed at the buffet; the tables were always dirty. It took awhile for them to do a table. The housekeeper kept opening our room in the morning. Even though one day she'd do the room in the morning and afternoon the next day. She'd knock and open at the same time it seemed. The buildings/ rooms definitely needs to be upgraded. It seemed like I was staying in the projects. Entertainment was good. Lots of activities. There are lots of shops. But I just expected better. Barcelo Dominican Beach was way better.

Go elsewhere

Terrible resort - the service was terrible - the room was filthy - the staff didnt care - the food was horrible - [...] - the majority of the people at the resort were Italian - shows were in Italian - the staff trys to talk to you in Italian - this resort was a real eye opener since the first part of our vacation was in Punta Cana Barcelo Domincan Beach - that resort was very nice - the staff was great and the food was good - Viva Wyndham felt like a half star resort compared to Barcelo Dominican Beach - Do your self a favor and chose a different resort.

Wonderful Place to vacation!!! :)

Me and my boyfriend enjoyed our stay at this hotel so much. There was something there for everyone; excerise on the beach during the day, dancing, music & night club in the evenings. The beach was beautiful with a small coral reef! We loved the food and once we arrived made reservations for each different themed restaurant for each night which was awesome!! We loved our stay and are coming back this year!!

Great potential

My intentions for going to La Romana, Dominican Republic were to see the Dominican Republic and get some rest. However, during my stay there was major construction going on outside of my room, employees that spoke very little english and not all non-motorized activities were included in the package as described upon purchase. The biggest inconvenience was the construction which prevented my goal of rest for the trip. The staff was very friendly, those that spoke English were helpful but limited. I was able to enjoy the beach, wind sailing, archery, lots of good food and drinks. This is a lovely hotel to visit if you are looking for a place of solitude, just make sure you geta construction update and take an italian/spanish dictionary.

Even if you get the all inclusive package, go visit the surrounding restaurants for true Dominican food. Los Lagos restaurant has the best fried chicken.

Paradise

The Resort Location was amazing! Stretched over a long winding beach with countless palm trees and walking trails. The Gardens are always in shape and super green. We were upgraded to "Palace" but we still used the "dominicus beach" activites and they were great. The buffet is very good with fresh fruit, different fish, and dominican cusine. Not filled with french fries and cheap food. Non-alchol beverages were GREAT while bar drinks were about average. The hotel was clean, nicely equipped, and numerous of free activites. Beware of the VIVA wyndham staff who try to sell you the VIP booking for next trips, we only spent 10 mins and walked out from the salesman geared enviroment. OVERALL WE WILL BE COMING BACK.
