Plaza Real Resort

This hotel is definitely is not a 4 or a 5 star hotel, if you just need a place to just sleep this is the place, there is not much going on around the hotel or in the hotel, i had to request clean towels otherwise they would kept the same dirty towels in the room for many days. I spent most of my time out side the area even ended up in Punta Cana, oooh just be careful walking by the beds for some reason i kept hitting my knee or my legs on the bed even hurt my toe , the corner of the beds are sticking too far out and the frames are low u might hit your toe there real bad like i did

The hotel is located close to the beach. It has everything you need as basic. The room was large, but everything was in old condition. There is nothing to do in Juan Dolio - just a few restaurants and small markets. I took a city tour to Santo Domingo, that was very exciting. Also took a trip to Catalina Island and had a really great time there. The beach was so beautiful, food and drinks were included, i did snorkeling and enjoyed it very much.

The Resort is pretty much as described, you get an apartment with bed and living room furniture. The balconies are nice and the staff is a pleasure. You are across the street from the beach which was a big plus. There is lots of new construction surrounding the property so you will wake up to the beautiful sound of heavy equipment everyday. Other than that I have no complaints. For the current rate I will visit Plaza Real Resort again.

The hotel is nice for what I paid ,but not much to do around and food is very expensive ,one or two night night is ok but other than that it will turn into a boring vacation.

I got a great deal on this hotel and I knew from reading all the reviews that I would be staying at a budget resort. However, I was expecting the basic necessities and those were not provided. All rooms came with a kitchenette. However, we could not cook anything because we were not provided with the basic equipment such as a can opener or frying pan. When we asked at the desk for these items, they told us they were not available and there was nothing close to the resort where we could even buy them. The safe in the room did not work. They gave us the key and told us they would replace the battery, but they never did. When we arrived there were no blankets on the beds, just sheets. When we asked for some, they told us there were none and gave us more sheets. Housekeeping would take our towels every day and not replace them. When we asked for new ones, we were told that they were always in the dryer, so we had to wait every night to take our showers. The water pressure in the shower was so light that it was hard to even take a shower. These are basics that should be provided in every hotel & they were not available at this hotel.

Room: Our room was huge! I was very surprised. Two floors, two bedrooms, one bathroom, kitchen, living room area, and another bed downstairs. This would have been more useful if there were more of us on the trip, but I was pretty impressed nonetheless. The room was clean enough. This is definitely not a luxury spot - so as long as your expectations are set, you will be fine. Location: The beach is literally across the street and very divine. This was the point of my trip anyway, so I was happy! You will have to ask the hotel for towels, so if you can bring your own, I would recommend it, just so you can have some extra. There is a lovely cafe connected to the hotel that makes great pizza. Wouldn't recommend the food at the hotel bar. Things to consider: Note that there is construction going on across the street, so if you can stay toward the back of the hotel, you should! It was very noisy! Conclusion: Overall, it was well worth the price we paid (cheap). Not sure I would stay here again, but that's because there is no night life and the beaches in Boca Chica are nicer. Good for families, especially because of the space and quiet, safe neighborhood.

great experience attentive employees, nice atmosphere

The hotel is located in an area which probably used to be full with a lot of restaurants and cafes, but today just consists of the remains of those. Even though it was high season when we were there (winter) there were not that many tourists there. Usually, this is a good thing for me. But not in this case, because, being one of the few tourists in the area, you get little kids and beggars following you around all day once you put a foot out of the hotel. Not to mention all the bikers and car drivers honking at you while they pass by. I have never felt this unsafe anywhere else in the world. Even the hotel staff did not make an impression of being trustworthy at all. First they gave us a room, which was not even cleaned because there were RAT DROPPINGS everywhere. Luckily for us, they probably knew about the rat problem in the room and offered us another one on a different part of the building 15 minutes after we had entered the first room. The hotel staff is very unfriendly. They don't give you any information on for example where you could go, or which buses there are to go to the closest town, or supermarket. The only thing they are interested in is your money. So, they tell you to go shop in their supermarket next door (which is not a supermarket but a dusty place with some old cardboard boxes of even older food) , where they have special tourist prices. If you want to go somewhere, they organize a taxi driver for you instead of telling you where to take the bus. If you book to go on a trip with the organizer they offer, you end up on a different trip. Here is our example> we wanted to go snorkeling, so we booked a trip with the organizer the hotel works with. The morning of the trip, after waiting in the heat for the bus for 30 minutes, it finally comes and picks us up. After an initial "souvenir shopping" tour, we finally take a boat to go to an island. However, once we reach it, it turns out there is no snorkeling there, because this was not the snorkeling tour, but just an island visiting tour. Confused, I ask one of our hotel receptionists to find out if there was a misunderstanding when we come back, since we wasted a whole day on a trip which we had not booked. She calls the agent, talks to him, gives the phone over to me, the agent YELLS at me, CURSES and hangs up! Seeing this, and knowing that I am the victim here, the hotel receptionists just look at me bluntly and shrug their shoulders...

Room is very confortable, for my opinion is better choose 2nd or 3rd floor
