Richmond hotel

This is a good location for sightseeing and eating out. Close to the train station and small grocery 1 block away, great park 1/2 block. The staff were great, friendly and giving local information. The room is basic, nothing extra but had tv and shower, no Kleenex, no real glasses, coffee maker, micro, or fridge. Basic and no complaints. I would stay there again.

Central and great value

I've stayed at Hotel Richmond half a dozen times now and am impressed at the value for money at such a central location. Rooms are adequate and quiet, they have wi-fi that works, there's coffee and tea at the reception, an ironer on request, and a good breakfast in the morning. The only thing that I miss there is a gym - they should strike a deal with the facilities next door - but otherwise both thumbs up!

Great Budget Value

The hotel is ideally situated for a single traveler who enjoys walking the city and getting to know the city's residents. Very close to the city center, but also accessible to conveniences like grocery stores and exchange banks. Easy walk from central train station after an easy commute from airport, the hotel offered all that was promised and more. Start of stay was the rockiest part, as the check-in cutoff time of 3pm was strictly observed. A luggage room was available, but there was no possibility of early check-in, a valuable asset after a long flight from the U.S. As 3pm approached, people appeared from everywhere to get assigned to their rooms. There was no appreciable system involved, and those waiting patiently like myself and another older woman traveler, were shunted to the end of the line by more aggressive patrons. Once in the room, all was well, and the staff was very nice throughout the stay, answering all questions and quite friendly. The included breakfast was quite good, there again the cutoff was strictly observed, so get there early and enjoy the feast. Overall, I very much enjoyed the hotel and its amenities, though the room cleaning was a bit perfunctory by American standards. Nice staff, and good neighborhood to start your day in Copenhagen!

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Nitto grocery store on next block from hotel has essentials for travel: water, fruit, and any last minute toiletry needs. Bring your own bag and Danish kroner, American CC's don't work on their system.

Good location, reasonably priced

Rooms could be more lively with better lighting. There are other 3 star hotels closer to the Central station. Nothing compelling to select this hotel, next time.

Very friendly staff are eager

Very friendly staff are eager to help. Facilities were better than expected with the buffet breakfast being substantial. The room was large, bright and clean. The location, while not in the heart of the city, is close to the central railway station and the beginning of the 'hop on hop off'tourist buse routes. It is also close to the Tivoli Garden amusement park which is as much a 'must see'as the Little Mermaid.

Unimpressive

Only 4 blocks from the central rail station, so it's location was reasonably convenient to most things. Of course, with that came the noise of the screeching trains, although that didn't seem to be much of a problem for sleeping. The room was adequate though not impressive. The walls are very thin, and could hear loud music playing from both of my neighbors. Not to mention a constant banging that I finally figured out was the flagpole right outside my room! The room is very stuffy with no ventilation unless you open the door to the balcony walkway; you can't open a window. And other people on the floor can walk in front of your room on the balcony, so I listened to someone yelling in Arabic into his cell phone. The bed was perfectly adequate for one person, although only suitable for two people who truly love each other. The bathroom design was horrible. The sink is effectively in the shower stall, but the shower curtain pulls right in front of the sink. But the shower controls are in the rear of the shower stall, right next to the sink (and right outside the shower curtain). So it's hard to change the temperature, etc, AND you'll get your feet wet if you use the sink after you've taken a shower. Additionally, I was provided with only one towel, and it was a hand towel. The reception people said they wouldn't help with making restaurant reservations, mentioning that they'd had problems in the past of people not showing up at their reserved time (I've never encountered that before from a hotel). Additionally, the WiFi, although free, was intermittent. On the plus side, the breakfast buffet was very good, and included in the hotel stay. Overall, it did the job, but with more rough edges than I'm accustomed to seeing in a downtown hotel.
