Modern yet historic hotel in the heart of the Danish capital
The building that houses Avenue has been used as a hotel since 1939. The same family has owned it since 1972, when the current owner's grandfather acquired it and named it the Avenue Hotel. The current proprietor took over in 2004, completely renovating and refurbishing the hotel to bring it into the 21st century. The hotel retains a friendly, relaxed atmosphere while offering modern amenities. The hotel also has an on-site music venue, lounge, and a shop open 'round the clock.
Highlights
- Free Wi-Fi
- Historic building with a modern twist
- 24/7 shop
- Bicycle rental
Rooms
Avenue Hotel has 68 generous rooms, ranging from singles to family rooms and A+ rooms. All accommodations feature private bathroom, hairdryer, cable television, refrigerator, and hypoallergenic bedding. A+ rooms are more spacious, offer extra comfort, and have a DVD player and cold drinks in the refrigerator.
Features
Avenue Hotel is ideally located for all visitors, close to all major attractions and well connected by public transport. Guests can rent a bicycle from the hotel to get around the traditional Copenhagen way. The Avenue prides itself on being family-friendly, with family rooms and play facilities, such as a sand pit.
The hotel's on-site facilities add to its unique character. The Yellow Lounge, which originally was introduced to present classical music to new audiences in a contemporary setting, now has two resident DJs and hosts big names such as Sting. The hotel patio entices guests to enjoy breakfast there in the summer or a glass of warm, mulled wine in the winter. Guests taken by the Avenue's style can buy original pieces as well as items influenced by the hotel in the on-site shop.

Avenue Rooms
- Guest Rooms
- All rooms have been renovated during 2005 and are now by far the best in Copenhagen in either the 3 or 4 star category. The rooms are medium to large in size and have been designed with an attention to detail and a personal touch making them exude character, charm and style. The rooms boast flatscreen Lava TV's from Sweden, Bestlite lamps commissioned especially for the hotel and bright and funky bedspreads by Missoni of Italy. To offset these feature items the rooms have been designed in soft neutral colours and carpet giving the rooms an elegant but cosy and comfortable feel. Then finally each room is decorated with photography from some of the best and most up and coming Danish photographers confirming the rooms to be some of the most delightful in Copenhagen.

Dining
- Restaurant
- The breakfast room is located to the left of the entrance on the ground floor. It has been beautifully renovated and now boasts a cafe feel, with stylish black chairs and huge engaging pictures hanging from the walls and a light wooden floor throughout. Although there is no restaurant in the hotel, they decided on the unique but excellent choice of employing a professional chef, meaning a hearty breakfast full of Danish traditions and light snacks being able to be cater for on request in the hotel's bar.

All-around lovely hotel, staff and experience
We arrived early morning from the US via red-eye. The hotel staff allowed us to check in early (8AM instead of 3PM) because there was a room available. [[Unfortunately, the room available smelled of smoke and had 2 single beds -- it was a small corner room, #314? We returned to the front desk promptly to decline the room and when we told them it smelled of smoke, they were angry (not at us) because it's supposed to be a non-smoking room. It showed they care about the hotel.]] We only waited 1 more hour in the lobby and someone else checked out early; they promptly cleaned the room and checked us in. It was a fantastic room -- large and garden-facing with lovely windows and sun. The bed was very comfortable and the free wifi and cable TV were extra nice for while we recovered from our jet lag. The included breakfast is impressive -- deliciously Scandinavian and enough of a range to satisfy anyone. The staff was incredibly welcoming, helpful with introducing the city and sights, and generally friendly and chatty. The lobby, that includes a bar, is large yet cozy. In a very expensive city, it was a great experience and worth the money!

A Great Place To Stay in Copenhagen
My husband and I had a pleasant stay at the Avenue Hotel. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful beyond expectation. We loved the courtyard lounge area where one can sit in the fresh air, on very comfortable cushions and have a cool drink at the end of the day. The indoor lounge was very inviting as well. Although the Hotel does not serve meals other than an ample and well-presented buffet breakfast, one can order dessert or snacks in the bar/lounge area. Good restaurants are within a few minutes walk from the Hotel. The location of the Hotel is not inconvenient for guests with automobiles. Public transportation is available every 15 minutes for those, like us, without vehicles. We found that commuting to the center of town did use up some time and energy. Overhall, we were very please with the Avenue Hotel.

Nice atmosphere/chic
The Avenue is very chic and contemporary. The room was a good size - there were 3 of us. The bathroom is a good size and not noisy. The breakfast was great - various choices. The elvator is small so be prepared but they do have a beautiful staircas eto use. The patio courtyard is heavenly with big pillows and candles lit at night. There is on site parking for cars but bicyles are the way to go if not walking. I walked everywhere - 25 minutes to the Little Mermaid - lots aof great neighborhoods and canals to see. The staff is very polite and friendly. There are restaurants and cafes nearby. Love the atmophere - the lounge is great and the wines are good.

Great Value-Nice Atmosphere
We spent 7 nights at the Avenue Hotel and I would highly recommend it to others. It offers a very nice lobby with a bar and fireplace-cozy chairs and candlelit at night. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and modern with very comfortable beds. The Scandanavian Breakfast that was included was a nice money saving bonus. It is not located in the heart of the center of Copenhagen but it is only 2 Metro stops away-great Metro system !! It is also on one of the main bus lines. We did follow other travelers advice and asked for a room toward the back of the hotel as the front rooms face the street and can be noisy. All in all a great experience!!

Boutique Bang for your Buck
The Avenue Hotel was perfect for my visit to Copenhagen. It was a short walk from the metro and about a 15 minute walk to downtown. The hotel check-in area and bar were sleek and inviting, and our room, while a little small, was extremely comfortable and had very cool furniture. The breakfasts in the morning were hearty and varied. I loved it and thought it was an excellent value -- I would definitely return.

excellent value and location for CPH
Avenue hotel combines design and comfort with a great location and a great price! near the subway (5 min walk), 2 min walk from 250S, the bus to central station and the airport, and a nice walk away from the center, at least in the summer, the hotel has been a great discovery for us. the room was clean and spacious, as well as the bathroom (although some floor tiles were chipped), very nicely decorated, and super comfortable bed. the breakfast is pretty good, but we never tried the bar. nice staff, although not always informed on the weather and all the transportation options. we found also a great Greek restaurant behind the hotel !!!I would def recommend it, excellent value in CPH!

Stylish and Comfortable
The Avenue was very modern and comfortable. Breakfast was great! Not right in the center of town but very accessible by the bus that goes by right outside. Don't follow the hotel's walking directions, though. From the airport take the 250S bus to the first stop right after the Radhuisen (city hall stop which is the next stop after the Centraal Station). Not many places to dine right around the hotel so plan to eat in the city hall area.
