2 couples for a weekend break...

Would recommend Thu, Oct 8, 2015
The hotel, and particularly the staff, were excellent. My partner and I couldn't rate it highly enough. Our friends however found sleeping by the street disturbing. But...they need/like the windows open & won't use the earplugs (kindly provided)...if this describes you, then be sure to ask for a courtyard room. Re the city: while it has everything and is friendly and beautiful...it also has high prices (compared to Ireland) e.g the average pint 8.5 euro (5 in Ireland) and eating out is similarly ?20 more expensive. (Again, alcohol driving up the price).

Awesome location/great Hotel

Would recommend Fri, Feb 20, 2015
Love Hotel Alexandra! great location - walking distance to everything! great service/staff. The only minor inconvenience - lack of closet space - we stayed in a-la 60-ties room and there was no closet/wardrobe available to store clothes. However, regardless, will definitely stay in this hotel next time in Copenhagen

Charming

Would recommend Fri, Jan 3, 2014
My stay was welcoming, cozy and comfortable. I enjoyed the Retro theme, and found the room clean and thoughtfully appointed in everyway. For every question that came to mind, there was an answer right before me. However brief my stay was, I would not hesitate to return again and I highly recommend this hotel to others that travel to Copenhagen.

dripping sink smelling of sulphur

Would not recommend Mon, Oct 28, 2013
If you are young and like hostels, this is the place for you! Choosing not to get your room cleaned will get you about 20 dollars off your restaurant bill next door per day but nothing matters if below your sink the pipe drips onto your floor and it smells of sewage and the complaint is not addressed immediately. Loving Danish mid-century modern is also key if you want to like this perfectly located hotel. My kids thought it was hip and eco-whatever. I thought it was uncomfortable and because I bought it on a package they would not give me another room when requested.

Interesting decor/ great service

Would recommend Mon, Jun 17, 2013
This is an historic hotel that has been renovated using vintage Danish furniture. It is very attractive. The bathroom in our room was tiny, but no different from several others we had in other cities. The hotel is classified "green" and offered us a $20 voucher to their attached restaurant if we would forego maid service for one day out of the three days and nights we were there. The restaurant is Asian cuisine and quite good. The staff members were all very friendly and helpful, from telling us where to get buses to different parts of the city to getting a cab at 4 a.m. for me to get to the airport. It is on a very, very busy street in Copenhagen, which means traffic noise at night and restaurant/bar noise on Friday night. But it is only a block from Tivoli Gardens and three blocks from the main train station.

Attractions

Ask at the desk where the main entrance to Tivoli Gardens is located. We ended up walking 3/4 of the way around the very long sides of it looking for the entrance!

Great location in Copenhagen

Would recommend Sun, Sep 16, 2012
We had a pleasant stay at Alexandra Hotel. After hopping on three separate flights, we took the metro to Nørreport and walked down Nørre Voldgade to the hotel. It wasn't ready for occupancy since we arrived so early, so we placed our luggage in the pile in the small downstairs room. Not ideal, but at least it was something. After wandering around for an hour (there are some cool shops nearby) we returned and the room still wasn't ready so we just hung out in the lobby for a while. Eventually a room did open up (not our original one apparently) and we got situated. Overall it was average size, fun decorations. There is no air conditioning in this hotel, as previously noted. We had a taxi reserved so we could hop on our cruise the next day, which was on time and reasonably priced for Copenhagen.

Time saver

If you're staying in a room facing H.C. Andersens Blvd, make sure you find the earplugs provided in the bathroom. We didn't see these until the following day, and since we had to keep the window open to stay cool, we didn't sleep so well.

Great location, that' all

Would not recommend Sat, Sep 1, 2012
The Alexandra is located in a very central location, couple blocks from Tivoli, 10 minutes walk from Central station and Stroguet but just is all positive about it. We arrived early in the morning a couple of days before our Baltic sea cruise, our room wasn't ready until middle the afternoon, our room was in the fourth floor facing the street a very busy and noisy boulevard that even with the windows closed was impossible to sleep soundly, to the point that they provide us with ear plugs to mitigate the street noise, to make matters even worse this hotel do not have air conditioning, a fact that I didn't see anywhere in the description of it, this is important when your stay is in late August and can't open the windows, however the hotel provide us with a very small portable fan for ventilation. The icing on the cake came at check out when the lady at the reception try to double charge us for the bicycle rental of the day before which we payed at the time of rental, even when I showed her the credit card receipt she didn't believed me only when I produce a print receipt she accepted in a very rude manner. We fell in love with Copenhagen not so much with this hotel.
