The hotel is conviently located close to the main sites only a few blocks from many. The staff and accomodaitions were better than expected and were a great value for the price. The morning buffet was a great surprise.

Don't be cheap

After reading all the glowing reviews, we were looking forward to our stay. I agree 100% that the front desk staff is very nice and helpful. Unfortunately, I have to disagree with almost everything else that has been said. This hotel falls short in many ways. Here are some things you should know. -No tissues in either our room or our friend’s, so I guess they don’t have them. You should expect to blow your nose with toilet paper. Tissues are a basic item one would expect in any hotel room. -The sink faucet is poorly designed making it impossible to wash your face without getting water everywhere. See my photo. -The towels are small and of cheap quality. My fitness club provides better towels. - The beddings are cheap and not that comfortable. - No currency exchange at the desk. I have never stayed at a hotel overseas that did not offer this. - The woman who runs breakfast is militant. We called her the KGB. She will require you to show your envelope that your room key card came in at check-in. See photo. Do not throw this envelope out like most do upon entering your room. KGB will not let you eat breakfast without it. -Speaking of breakfast, it is of poor quality and selection. We actually paid for breakfast at a local cafĆ© instead of eating at this hotel. -The location is not ideal, despite what other reviews suggest. If you are a tourist, you will most likely be spending most of your time in Old Town across the river. This makes it very impractical to drop off gifts in your room, or to get cleaned up for dinner. Trust me, it is a hassle and you will not want to do it more than once per day. Yes, there is a tram system, but it is slow and annoying. We mostly walked everywhere. My suggestion is to spend the extra money and find a nicer place in Old Town. We had drinks one evening at the Buddha-Bar Hotel and Lounge and out of curiosity, I asked to see a room. Wow! What a difference. Sorry I booked Red and Blue Design.

Great Hotel

It is not all that is advertised. We would have liked the DVD slot on the TV as advertised. The bar is expensive. Once the sofa bed is down you keep tripping around it. The breakfast was great. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The Charles Bridge is twice as far as advertised.

Family vacation

We spent 5 days touring Prague in early September. Weather was good. Red and Blue design hotel is a very nice hotel located close to most of the tourist spots, within walking distance. Close to tram stop. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bath room had a nice big tub and a shower that had two kinds of shower heads which was bit tricky for us in the beginning as we were not familiar with that type. Our maid was nice with very pleasant ready smile. It is a very well maintained hotel. Breakfast buffet was a great deal for the money and was very good. The Chef was very attentive and menu changed every day. Waitresses were busy as a bee, constantly cleaning and replenishing the dishes that were laid out tastefully - feast not only for the tongue but also for the eye. Vi fi was working well all the time which was great -after our experience in the London hotel. We want to go back to Prague again and will definitely stay in this hotel.

Great value

Spent four nights in Prague after 13 day visits to the Balkans. A very pleasant stay with no surprises as described by other reviews. Clean, new, comfortable beds and great location away from the noise and hassle of the downtown, but with a tram stop within 200 meters that runs into the city for around $1 per ticket. Has 36 inch flat screen TV, Hot water pot with in room tea and coffee. Staff very helpful, booking taxi and selling tram tickets.Great breakfast. Glad we booked here.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Trams 9 or 6 run into the city, tram 22 to castle. The money exchanges, including in the Airport, make the folks in the bible look like honest bankers. Use an ATM or a Bank. example US Dollar was trading around 18 to 1, and exchanges offer 12.23 to one. Great local dining in 3 locations nearby. The U Vojacku is on Vodni Street next to Justice Building(400 yards). Dinner for two with drinks and tip 400 Kc. Best food is across bridge to the south on Resslova and is named KRCMA U PARASUTISTU (Cafe Parachutes). Complete lunch 300 KC, Supper 400KC. Great local food and you will probably be the only tourist there. Menu in English and waitress speaks some English, try the Parachutist's Kettle for Supper and share with a friend. Excellent with LARGE amounts. For lunches, order from the lunch specials printed on caulk boards on the sidewalks for quick and good meals that the locals eat.

Lovely hotel, nice quiet location

The hotel was lovely, bright and clean, the room was a good size, the bed was huge and comfortable, with 2 duvets (one each). Our room had a nice view over the park. The aircon was silent and worked well. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided, with powdered creamer, but there was room in the minibar for a pint of milk (Tesco Metro round the corner). The bathroom was clean and a decent size. I would stay there again but there were just a couple of little niggles. It was difficult to adjust the water temperature - a tiny turn of the cold tap switched the water from very hot to very cold - and to turn the water on and off without getting wet (and scalded or frozen) - take a shower cap as none was provided. The TV was sound limited due to the thin walls (apparently) and BBC World barely audible Breakfast was fine, with a good range of choice, the coffee was stewed in an urn but just about drinkable (take your own if you're fussy!). Reception staff were friendly and helpful. It was nice to be a little way out, it was about a 20 min walk to the old town, and 30 mins from the north end of the old town (take a tram home!).

Time-saving tip: Long walk from hotel

Trams are a great way to get around but somewhat mysterious, so before you go out for the day, pick a few locations you might end up in which might be a bit far to walk back, and ask at reception how to get there and back by tram. You will need the name of the tram stop (written down and marked on the map), the tram number (and direction of travel), and don't forget the name of your local stop! Information on the tram stops themselves is rudimentary. Also, buy tickets from reception before you go.

Bright comfortable refuge on park.

I stayed six nights with two adult daughters in a large room on the back of the building. We were extremely comfortable. All furniture, bedding, bathroom fixtures were top-notch modern design. There was a mini-bar, hot water kettle and a safe large enough for a laptop. The staff were charming, well- trained and fluent in English. They arranged taxi drivers at a fixed rate so we didn't have to deal with the famously larcenous Prague taxis. This hotel is on a park at the edge of the tourist area. It is a pleasant retreat from the tourist mobs in Old Town--a long walk from some sights but this is not a problem because a tram stop is nearby. The trams are fun and easy. The "Artisan Restaurant' nearby is excellent and reasonable with a beautiful garden terrace. It was so quiet and relaxing after sight-seeing that we ate there five times!

The Red and Blue Design Hotel of Prague

We stayed at the Red and Blue design hotel at the end of our 5 week trip in Europe. This hotel was the most comfortable and had the largest rooms of any of the places we stayed. The bathroom was very large and very modern with both a large tub and a great shower. The staff was very friendly and helpful and knew the answers to all of our questions. The breakfast was very complete and held in a bright, comfortable area. The hotel is easy to get to using public transportation from both the main train station and the airport. The Charles Bridge, the Castle, the old town square and many other places of interest are within walking distance. There is a large park right across the street. The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood. We spent a wonderful three nights there.
