Petr Bauer U Zlateho Stromu Rooms

Standard Room
Rooms are original in their dimensions, layout and furnishings. The interior design, furniture and accessories respect the style of urban living in the 18th and 19th centuries, married with modern technology. One of the nicest experiences for guests is waking up in the morning under an original painted ceiling in the spirit of the sprightly renaissance.

We were very happy with the location being so close to the Charles bridge and the old town square but being put on the 4th floor (plus another flight within the room) without a lift, was quite rediculous!.My wife had just had a knee replacement so we had to ask for a change to a lower floor which was done without a refund, (going from a suite to a double room). Also being on a very busy street, the noise at night was a slight problem!

Have a dinner at the roof restaurant opposite the astronomical clock. If you are lucky enough to have a fine weather night it is a treat. Also the clock tower is accessable by lifts very few stairs.

GREAT location and VERY accomodating staff!!

We spent 4 nights at U Zlateho Stromu and were very pleased. The front desk was VERY friendly, extremely helpful and accommodated our every request! Whether it was advice on what to see or where to eat, he always had great advice. All of the front desk staff had excellent English skills too! The location of the hotel could not be beat. Located on Karlova Street, it is literally steps to the Charles Bridge. In fact from our room, #24, which faced Karlova Street, we could look out our window and see the bridge! It was also very close to the Old Town Square, maybe 4 minutes by foot. It was also maybe 8-9 minutes walking to the subway which made it easy to get to/from the airport and to the main train station for train we took to another nearby city. Karlova Street definitely has its share of people walking to and from the Charles Bridge at all hours. Being November, we always had the windows closed so street noise was not really an issue. We could certainly hear groups of people walking up and down though even late into the night and early morning. There were a few groups of drunk and loud people that we could hear but it wasn?t too bad. I don?t think I?d recommend staying here though the summer months. The rooms don?t have central air conditioning so you?d have to have your windows open. I can only imagine in warmer, busier seasons, Karlova Street must be much busier and nosier. Just in front of the hotel, U Zlateho Stromu?s restaurant has a covered area with MANY tables set up for dining. In the warmer months, I can only imagine that whole area full of people eating, drinking till the wee hours. You could ask for a room that faced the back of the hotel like #21 or #22 (#24 & #25 face the front) and the street noise may not be an issue. We didn?t hear noise from the club in the basement. If you?re a light sleeper, I?d definitely recommend having a set of earplugs. The room was very good size with a TV (with CNN too!), minibar and a comfortable, large bed. The painted ceilings were cool too. The bathroom was nice size and very clean. There was plenty of hot water, nice towels, soaps, shampoo, etc, and a heated towel bar! No shower curtain however so you have to be careful not to get water all over when showering! Breakfast was very good and VERY filling. Everyday, there was a large selection of juices, fresh fruit and breads, rolls, and croissants. There was also dry cereal and yogurt. Additionally there was always tray of fresh cheeses, prosciutto and other cold cuts. Also, there were large, warmed trays of bacon, sausages and eggs. There was free wi-fi in the hotel however we could not connect from our room. We had to go to the restaurant and sit there. Once connected, the speed was fine. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel because of the location and VERY friendly and accommodating staff. I?d think twice though if I were traveling to Prague in the summer months b/c of the inevitable street noise on Karlova Street.

Noisy, hot, and touristy

The hotel is located on one of the busiest roadways in the old town, filled with a constant stream of noisy tourists. The hotel does not have an elevator, nor air conditioning, and the tourists create a din that is highly objectionable. Drunks slumbered along the front of the hotel until 4:30 a.m. singing and yelling. There are better locations to stay that offer better amenities and are less noisy.

Hotel molto bello, posizione eccezionale.
