Weekend in Prague

We stayed at the Mamaison Pachtuv Palace from 3/24/2012 to 3/31/2012. The hotel location is superb, generally being in a quiet area but extremely close to some of the biggest attractions in Prague, such as Charles Bridge, Old Town Square and the Lesser Quarter. The hotel is beautiful, extremely comfortable and the staff could not have been more helpful or attentive. The concierge set up our excursions, tours and drivers easily. The restaurant was pretty good for breakfast but not great. We did not get the expensive buffet which costs about $30 per person. There are many other less expensive places to eat nearby. We did not have any other meals at the hotel. The room was beautiful and extremely spacious, especially by European standards. We were upgraded to a room with a river and castle view. The room was great in every way and it was a pleasure to come back to after a day of walking the streets. The hotel has a lot of European charm and luxury for the price. I would highly recommend the Pachtuv Palace it if it is in your price range.

Take a tour out into the Czech countryside. The city of Cesky Krumlov is one of the most beautiful, intact medieval cities you will ever see. There are many sites a relatively short drive from Prague that are worth seeing and give you a different sense of the Czech Republic than you get from only being in Prague.

Vintage Charm in a Great Location

The hotel itself is old so it has a vintage feel, but still very grand and luxurious. It's located right next to Charles Bridge, ideal for visiting attractions by foot and seeing fireworks on New Years Eve. We were upgraded to a junior suite free of charge during New Years vacation and it was very spacious. Everything was great except the staff could be more helpful. There's a lack of following through once a query is placed but they don't have an answer right away. I had to continuously remind and chase for an answer. The rate was also quite high in comparison to hotels stayed in Budapest and Vienna during the same vacation period. But overall would recommend it if you want the location and old charm feel.

Perfect Christmas location

It was brilliant! Friendly helpful smiling staff, plus we booked the hotels driver for pickup from airport who was delightful. The cost was 800 czech crowns or 30 euros very reasonable and a nice sleek Mercedes. Cleanliness was unbeatable, and a lovely lovely room, four poster bed, excellent mini kitchen, and expresso coffee maker as well. Fruit and biscuits on arrival and fruit juice in reception. Plus on Christmas Day we recieved a Gift wrapped Czech classical CD and chocolates, very nice touch, room was very warm, bed comfortable, location was perfect for all the good tourist sites, and we were enchanted from start to finish. I think the four days was perfect, no longer at this time of year. Prague was full of tourists it was very busy, plenty open on Christmas Day, loads of music concerts, and carol services. For what we paid we it was excellent value. Only problem was the journey, that's because of where I live though. Tip! Take some DVDs with you. Television is dire there. They do supply a DVD player. But otherwise I honestly cannot fault a thing. Would thoroughly recommend. The staff in the hotel arranged one of the tours for us which was the 6 hour walking, boat and tram one through the organizers, this gave us a free taxi ride to the starting point of the tour and complimentary tickets for the Ghost tour the next day. The tour included a three course meal and while lots of walking was very informative, well worth it and very well guided. The hotel recommended this one and they were right to do so, they helped with anything we asked. We have done many mini break European cities, this was way out front as a wonderful city, but importantly this was the best European hotel we have been in and none have been bad. If you get the chance go here!

At Christmas, in the Old Town Square, lovely restaurants with excellent food. Lovely Czech Goulash with dumplings! And great Apple strudel. Meet tourists from all over the world. Such a great setting, and reasonably priced.

The best hotel we've stayed in!

This hotel is by far and away the best hotel that my girlfriend and I have ever stayed in. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left, the staff were amazing; very attentive and extremely helpful. They booked restaurants for us, came armed with multiple bulbs when one went out in our room and were always able to help with any of our queries. The room itself was simply stunning! A king size bed, gigantic bath, beautifully decorated, well equipped...I could go on and on! Everything was done to the highest standard. Often we don't spend much time in our hotel room when on holiday as we like to do as much as possible but here we were more than happy to spend time in the hotel because it was just so nice and homely. The hotel is just a few minutes walk from the Charles Bridge and approximately 10-15 minutes from the old town. If walking isn't your thing then there's a tram stop a minute from the hotel which I think takes you to the old town. If you are going to Prague, this is the hotel you HAVE to stay in!

The most wonderful place we found while staying in Prague was the Wallenstein Garden. It's not the most obvious stop given that you have the castle, the old town and the clock but it was the one place that completely blew us away, and we visited it on our last day so we had already seen most things by then!

Great location and friendly staff

We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights in November. A few other relatives stayed there at the same time, and we noticed a variety in the size and layout of our rooms. However, we all were happy with the hotel in the end. Staff was always friendly and accomodating. We enjoyed spending time in the lobby - using wireless internet and relaxing. The location is fabulous - easy walk to any of the major tourist attractions. Hotel drivers were great. We apprecited having the restaurant there. We felt like a la carte breakfast was a much better value than the buffet. We'd recommend this hotel to others visitng Prague.

perfect location and awesome service

What can I say? It started all wrong with a reservation issue. BUT the response from the staff exceeded our expectations. We got upgraded to a wonderful suite, a large, well-furnished and quiet one. IMO this IMO is the response I would expect from a 5-star hotel. Location is very convenient, at the very right center of the historical main visit points. It is a small hotel, which means few people, quietness, a place where you can feel comfortable. This was a real review from a couple of Swiss travellers from around Lausanne.

Perfect location and attentive staff

I have leg problems and difficulties with stairs. Before booking here, I was told that the hotel had an elevator. I assumed that this meant that all rooms were accessible via elevator, but they in fact have a few rooms that are only accessible by stairs. When I arrived and discovered this, the hotel was gracious enough to move me to another room and upgraded me to a suite. I appreciated that they reacted instantly to the situation and accomodated my restrictions without any hesitation.

fantastic hotel experience

We stayed for the last couple of nights of our honeymoon. Wonderful suite, excellent amenities, and beautiful views of the Charles Bridge. Would skip the overpriced breakfast, however.

just perfect

First of all, the kindness of the staff was endless. We had to ask no questions when we arrived of left- all was clear even the information about all the attractions and most beautiful sites in town. The staff made all the efforts to make our staying as much as comfortable as possible- always with a smile. The hotel is lovely - designed in great taste, very romantic, the bed was very comfortable and we had anything we want in the minibar even an espresso machine!!! The hotel is located very close to center of city - it is watching to the river and 3 minutes away from the Charles bridge, the "mini Eiffel tower" and an endless amount of fine restaurants. To sum up, we have no complaints what so ever- all was perfect and highly recommended.
