Excellent Hotel & very helpful staff

Check in was swift and efficient. The staff were always trying to please. We were upgraded from a junior to a magnificent deluxe suite. Everything was as it should be and the WiFi worked perfectly. The location is by Charles Bridge and the whole of the old town was within easy walking distance, even for a 79 year old. The only small quibble was the toilet, which had been fitted into a very small space. This in no way detracted from the rest of the hotel experience. Would we go again, absolutely!

Prague at Your Door Steps

Upscale establishment with very helpful, personal, and professional staff. Offers a welcome drink upon arrival. Hotel has it's own "driver" who can pick you up at airport or drop you back off at reasonable fee. Charming, beautiful, old historic building, with old world feel and lovely outdoor courtyard space. Furniture in room and public spaces is a bit tired though and rooms could be a bit cleaner, especially for a 5 star hotel. Just steps form Charles Bridge and short walk to everything. Great location facing the River.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Two very good restaurants to recommend are: 1) Ristorante Vabene Pizzeria in old town (fabulous buffet breakfast, all you can eat at only about $9.00. Charming old world setting and decor. Highly recommended as compared to hotel breakfasts) and 2) Rainer Maria Rikle a block from hotel (recommended by hotel. wonderful czech cuisine with welcoming old world charm. attentive owner/manager.

Great Location, Nice Hotel

We stayed here for 5 days and found the hotel to be in a very good location a couple of minutes walk from Charles Bridge. The Old Square was about 10 mins walk away. The hotel itself was lovely and our room was spacious and clean. The only downside was that it looked out onto an alley and was quite close to the windows on the other side. Upon reading other reviews, most guests got an upgrade on their rooms upon arrival which looked out over the river and castle. We alas, did not. Maybe we should have asked. This however, did not spoil our stay, the staff were very friendly and the room was cleaned daily to a very high standard. Chocolates every day were a nice touch. The bed was huge and the most comfiest bed we've ever slept in. We would recommend this hotel, just ask for a view when you check in!

Perfect place in Prague

This is a perfect hotel for a stay in Prague. It gives you the flavor of the city, much better than a chain hotel. The location is right by the river, close to everything. It is modern but maintains charm. The courtyard is an excellent place to relax and visit. I would highly recommend it.

Best location in Prague!

Huge room. Quirky, but fun furnishings. It is an old building, so there are a few issues there, but the bathroom fixtures are updated and nice. A glass of wine in the courtyard in the evening was a great way to wind down from the day.

A fantastic place to stay in Prague!

This historic hotel is beautiful, perfect location near the Charles Bridge and easy walk to old town square. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. The restaurant was very good, and there are many other restaurant options within a block or two. We highly recommend the Pachtuv Palace.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

Eat or have a drink at Bellavista Restaurant at the Strahov monastery - preferably at sunset. The view is amazing! (and prices are quite reasonable). We walked both ways but you can get there by tram.

Weekend in Prague

We stayed at the Mamaison Pachtuv Palace from 3/24/2012 to 3/31/2012. The hotel location is superb, generally being in a quiet area but extremely close to some of the biggest attractions in Prague, such as Charles Bridge, Old Town Square and the Lesser Quarter. The hotel is beautiful, extremely comfortable and the staff could not have been more helpful or attentive. The concierge set up our excursions, tours and drivers easily. The restaurant was pretty good for breakfast but not great. We did not get the expensive buffet which costs about $30 per person. There are many other less expensive places to eat nearby. We did not have any other meals at the hotel. The room was beautiful and extremely spacious, especially by European standards. We were upgraded to a room with a river and castle view. The room was great in every way and it was a pleasure to come back to after a day of walking the streets. The hotel has a lot of European charm and luxury for the price. I would highly recommend the Pachtuv Palace it if it is in your price range.

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

Take a tour out into the Czech countryside. The city of Cesky Krumlov is one of the most beautiful, intact medieval cities you will ever see. There are many sites a relatively short drive from Prague that are worth seeing and give you a different sense of the Czech Republic than you get from only being in Prague.

Vintage Charm in a Great Location

The hotel itself is old so it has a vintage feel, but still very grand and luxurious. It's located right next to Charles Bridge, ideal for visiting attractions by foot and seeing fireworks on New Years Eve. We were upgraded to a junior suite free of charge during New Years vacation and it was very spacious. Everything was great except the staff could be more helpful. There's a lack of following through once a query is placed but they don't have an answer right away. I had to continuously remind and chase for an answer. The rate was also quite high in comparison to hotels stayed in Budapest and Vienna during the same vacation period. But overall would recommend it if you want the location and old charm feel.

Perfect Christmas location

It was brilliant! Friendly helpful smiling staff, plus we booked the hotels driver for pickup from airport who was delightful. The cost was 800 czech crowns or 30 euros very reasonable and a nice sleek Mercedes. Cleanliness was unbeatable, and a lovely lovely room, four poster bed, excellent mini kitchen, and expresso coffee maker as well. Fruit and biscuits on arrival and fruit juice in reception. Plus on Christmas Day we recieved a Gift wrapped Czech classical CD and chocolates, very nice touch, room was very warm, bed comfortable, location was perfect for all the good tourist sites, and we were enchanted from start to finish. I think the four days was perfect, no longer at this time of year. Prague was full of tourists it was very busy, plenty open on Christmas Day, loads of music concerts, and carol services. For what we paid we it was excellent value. Only problem was the journey, that's because of where I live though. Tip! Take some DVDs with you. Television is dire there. They do supply a DVD player. But otherwise I honestly cannot fault a thing. Would thoroughly recommend. The staff in the hotel arranged one of the tours for us which was the 6 hour walking, boat and tram one through the organizers, this gave us a free taxi ride to the starting point of the tour and complimentary tickets for the Ghost tour the next day. The tour included a three course meal and while lots of walking was very informative, well worth it and very well guided. The hotel recommended this one and they were right to do so, they helped with anything we asked. We have done many mini break European cities, this was way out front as a wonderful city, but importantly this was the best European hotel we have been in and none have been bad. If you get the chance go here!

At Christmas, in the Old Town Square, lovely restaurants with excellent food. Lovely Czech Goulash with dumplings! And great Apple strudel. Meet tourists from all over the world. Such a great setting, and reasonably priced.
