Loved it

Staff was courteous and helpful, especially Tom. Room was small and sparse but very comfortable. The real standout is the cost and location! Being right next to the church, I found it very easy after only a day to find my way around all of Old Town and much of Praha 1, and get back when I wanted. There are so many landmarks from here, it's hard to get lost. And for the price, I can't imagine it getting much better. Definitely would recommend and plan to return.

Entertainment tip: Long walk from hotel

Honestly I found most places of interest so easy to reach by walking, and also so recognizable, that I never needed to take a tour of any kind. Also, I don't recommend renting a bike unless you really plan to get a good workout, as the roads are inhospitable and indirect.

A Fine Independent Hotel!

After four visits to lovely Prague, we finally landed the right hotel! And Hotel Hastal is it.The Hotel Hastal is a fine hotel. Here's why:1, it is an independent hotel run by a Prague-born and raised owner/manager, [...], who knows the city and its people very well;2, [...] never accepts tour groups;3, [...] is on site daily and has a professional but friendly relationship with hisemployees;4, [...] and his staff are quick to spot problems and are responsive to guests' requests. We found the location to be just right--handy for sightseeing and eating, but out of the heavily-traveled immediate Old Town Square area. And if the traditional, heavy Czech food of Prague weighs you down, there are always French and Anglo options: Chez Marcel a few doors west of the hotel and the James Joyce Pub, about three minutes' walk.

It is up to you !

This is a small hotel in a very good location near the old town square . Actually a 9 minute walk and in fact I spent 5 days there and never took a taxi or bus anywhere .You must take a taxi from the airport which is $35 dollars US . I must say , however , that the room was the smallest I have stayed in anywhere , anytime . However , it is clean and quite after 10pm but the walls are paper thin . Everything said , I did like this hotel for the price . The staff are accomodating as well . Everything you want is in close proximity including bars , restaurants and discos which start late and go all night .Be sure and buy some saugages from the restaurants near the square which sell them to go right on the street . Casinos are also in walking distance and Charles Bridge is about a 25 min. walk with lots of shopping onthe way . Be sure and visit the old square at night as it is beautiful . I would not recommend the hotel to a friend BUT I would probably ( no definitely )stay there again . You should remember that I am an experienced traveler .

Old style family hotel that needs

Old style family hotel that needs some updating to succeed in modern Prague. On-line and email reservation processes were good. My room was clean but the furniture was old (not antique-old, just tired-old). The bathroom had been renovated and was excellent. There was no iron in my room and not one available - only an expensive laundry/ironing service that took 24hrs. The traditional food in the restaurant seemed OK - there was certainly lots of it - but there was not a single red wine available to drink with my meal. The in-room book said that room-service breakfast was available, but I was told I would have to come to the restaurant.

Hastal u over-exceeded our expectations!

From our first step into Hastal, we were pleasantly surprised. The staff genuinely wanted to help make our stay as pleasant an experience as possible. The room was comfortable (the bed looked uncomfortable but was awesome) and there was free breakfast everyday.

I don´t hesitate to recommend it.

I was a bit worried when I read some of the recent reviews of this hotel complaining about small rooms, unhelpful staff and very mediocre food quality. But I already had a reservation there and I didn´t want tocancel it. By the way, there are very positive reviews as well, so I said to myself that the truth must be somewhere in the middle and decided to go and test the quality of accommodation and service myself. The hotel taxi took me to a quiet little square with a dominant church. The hotel is quite small but very cosy and so was the room (comparing to some 3star hotel rooms in Paris it was huge). Everything was clean and tidy. There was absolutely no problem with service, I got extra cushion upon request, the receptionists were very nice and helpful. The buffet breakfast was more than satisfactory. In a nutshell, it´s really worththe money and I don´t hesitate to recommend it.

Disappointed raveler

When we arrived we were told that our reservation was for 1 person when in fact we were 2. The rooms were so small one could barely move in them. The dining room/bar was so small and stuffy the included breakfast was less than enjoyable. Please find another place to stay.

Perfect: Great location at a good price

Just a one night stay at this lovely Hotel. It was booked for me by my company and I don't they were too bother where to put me, but they looked at the price, which was incredible for a centre-based 3* hotel. Room was clean and light, food was good too.

Wonderful Hotel in the heart of Prague

Another time in Prague for a meeting, this time in new hotel. Really impressed with the rates and the quality: rooms were clean, breakfast went on until 10am and evening menu was also good. The local beer tasted good so I would definately recommend this hotel and Prague is a must see city of 2010!
