Hotel Elite Review

This hotel was great. The location was awesome - 5 minutes to the water and a great view of Prague Castle - 7 minutes to the ... Old Town Square - 3 minutes to Wens. Square - Tram and train stop right outside. The location could not have been better. The staff was great. They were always very helpful and gave great advice tips. [...] were always so pleasant and helpful - always went the extra mile when they could. They even arranged breakfast for us for 5am when we were leaving and had a bottle of champagne for me as it was my birthday. Their service was superb. Rooms were always very clean and they even folded my wife's pajamas every night.

We purchased linens and crystal in the Jewish area of Prague (right outside the Old Jewish cementary when you leave) and the quality and price blew the competition away at the Old Town Square.

Wunderbar!

Wonderful location, just on the border of Stare Mesto and therefore away from all the masses of tourists. Staff is very ... friendly and helpful. We could have contacted them 24 hours prior to our arrival for a "Hotel taxi", which we did not know. But we used their service back to the train station. Polite driver, nice sedan, worth every penny. Tram 22 around the corner will take you to Prague Castle, which is worth the trip! All in all great, would go back tomorrow.

After a long day of exploring Prague, there are plenty of great tasting small eateries around the vicinity of the hotel.

Great Place to Stay
Kathleen Sep 16, 2009
The hotel was in a good location - far enough away from the Old Town Square that you weren't constantly surrounded by ... tourists. But close enough that you could easily walk to everything you wanted to see. The staff was nice; the bar/lounge was pleasant; the breakfast was VERY GOOD compared to the other breakfasts we ate while visiting the Czech Republic. The rooms (we stayed in two - left and came back) were clean, charming and comfortable. The best hotel we stayed at during our visit to the Czech Republic!

U Modre Kachinicky II for traditional Czech cuisine, served in elegance by a friendly wait staff. The bread was baked moments early and their specialty is duck -- the bacon dumplings are a MUST.Michalska 16Praha 1+420-224-213-418

Ask You Fellow Guests"
daisytheyellow Sep 15, 2009
My friendly fellow guests were all repeat clients of the Elite. They love it for its hospitality and how clean it is and ... because it's ten minutes from Old Town, New Town, the Charles Bridge, with the main trams going to the Castle and Petrinske right down the street. Because it's a small hotel, travelers tend to talk to each other over the last pivo in the lounge or garden at night which is lovely for someone traveling alone. Prague is one of the perfect cities for the single traveler -- lots to do, easy to walk and a fairytale setting. When you turn down the narrow cobbled street of Ostrova where the Elite is, the fairytale continues.

Hotel Elite Review
Paula Sep 2, 2009
I have been to Prague twice and this was the first time straying at the the Hotel Elite. The Hotel is in a good location not ... far from Old Town Square. Parking can be a challenge in Prague. The hotel fortunately had parking available. They have an underground parking garage with about 12 spots. They charge $25 per day (which is standard for Prague). Our room was small, but clean. The only two things that we did not like were the towels (they were old and smelled like smoke) and there was lots of static on the TV. You don't go to Prague to watch TV, but when you turn it on for a few minutes at night before going to bed, you don't want to see more static than the news. Overall though, I liked the hotel and would stay there again.

For a great view of Prague, go to the Eiffel Tower in Petrin Park. You can take the train up the hill. It is not far from where the trian lets you off at the top.

"Great location and lots of character"
Teacher Travelers Aug 23, 2009
We loved the Elite Hotel! It was a great location, had lots of character and a wonderful breakfast every morning. It was ... right up the block to the tram and metro. We even added 5 more days after we had stayed our original 5. The staff could communicate very well with us in English.

You can walk to the St. Charles Bridge from the hotel. Catch a boat ride tour on the river and take the tram to the Prague Castle.

Good Value

Staff was extremely helpful and knowedgeable. Easy walk to all areas of Prague and very close to public transportation less ... than 150 meters. Common hotel areas were cozy, interesting. Room, although small, was very nice and kept spotless. Wireless internet access was a plus. Included full breakfast that was substantial but same food every day. Would return for another stay.

Tickets for all transportation require coins at the subway and are for spedific periods of time. You can also buy them at certain stores (very short walk from this hotel) and at other locations. Took a while to figure that one out!

Convenient, interesting, & comfortable.
Richard Jun 29, 2009
Your home in Prague is close to the fun but on a mostly quiet street, just a quick walk from the subway. Elite Hotel has a ... pleasant courtyard and interesting, carefully updated rooms. The breakfast buffet is worth waking up to - no stale bun and sad cold cuts here - but the comfortable beds are hard to leave. The internet is reliable and free, the lounge is fine for a daytime business meeting, and the staff is very pleasant. I'd ask for more counter space in the bathroom and another place for luggage, but the original builder stopped taking design changes a few hundred years ago. (Who needs a TV in Prague? That can go!) The rooms are clean, the shower is hot, and the windows seal very well. Nothing is oversized, but welcome to Europe. Get out of the room and into the city. You will have a great place to rest when you day is done.
Traveler type: Business
Prague is very walkable, but print yourself a map of the Prague subways. You can get around for 30 minutes for under a buck, or get a reasonable 24hr pass. If arriving by train, there's no excuse not to do like the locals. You'll have plenty of company on the train, but that's more proof that you made the right choice.

"Small is better!"
Em A-OK Apr 22, 2009
Not having visited Prague before, and unsure of what would be the best location, we managed to pick it just right to stay at ... the Hotel Elite. It was on a quiet side street, a one-minute walk to either a tram or Metro station, and five minutes to Wenceslas Square. It was a small hotel, with a very substantial and good breakfast, responsive and very helpful staffing. I would highly recommend it!We walked from there all over Prague, and when our legs got tired, were able to take a tram or Metro back. We loved the city, and, visiting the week after Easter, enjoyed the Easter Markets set up at all the major squares. We took a day trip to Kutna Hora, an hour out of Prague on the train or bus, and thoroughly enjoyed the "Bone Church" as well as the splendid Gothic church. In the Czech Republic, the beer lives up to its billing. It was delicious! The Herold Black Ale was particularly interesting and different. Can't recommend Prague and environs enough!
