Quaint, if you get a deal

If I had paid the published rate for this hotel I would have been frustrated, but with the last minute deal it was a great value. My room was quaint and charming, the bed comfy. I was in an attic room so the sloped ceilings would have been problematic for someone taller. The location was ideal, I walked everywhere around town. They had a great breakfast spread. I requested the evening that I checked in to have a lightbulb replaced as it was flickering and about to go out and the flickering was annoying, reminiscent of a Hitchcock film. The front desk said they would take care of it while I was at dinner - the bulb was never replaced during my stay. The room had AC that barely worked, but it did sort of work which was helpful since the hotel is very near a tram line so it was noisy sleeping with the window open.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The Zlaty Dvur restaurant across the street from the Bethlehem church, just a short walk straight down from the hotel is a great spot. They had a "tourist" menu which was very affordable and delicious, great wine, live jazz, and was quiet - away from the mobs of tourist.

Young Professionals Traveling

The hotel was just okay at best, I wouldn't stay there again. The rooms were absolutely tiny and the staff at the front desk are absolutely rude and obnoxious, they need some major training. The breakfast was horrible and if you go a minute late, they won't accommodate you!

Great Place Near Heart of the City

Rather spacious rooms for a European hotel. Nice decoration and the beds were comfortable. There is an elevator and no issues with hot water in the shower. The breakfast is quite hearty and the location can't be beat. Extremely friendly staff. I will always make a point to book a room here anytime I visit Prague.

Lovely stay

I visited Prague for 3 days for the PQ, an international exposition in theatre, after I had been traveling around Europe for 5 weeks. Hotel Elite was much nicer than many of the places I stayed including another hotel in Prague. It is conveniently located. It is a lovely hotel with good breakfast, air conditioning, flat screen tv and comfortable beds. The architecture is interesting and the front desk people very helpful.

Perfect Couple Nook

After nearly two weeks of traveling, staying in friends' beds, and braving insects, it was nice to finally find our own little nook. I was worried about how the hotel stuff might go down, but we were greeted at 10pm by a friendly receptionist and everything was in place. We opened the door to a cozy, rustic room. However, cleanliness was hardly rustic - everything was neat and tidy. Towels, lotion, soap, shower caps, a fully stocked mini bar (nice to have if we had the little money left over), a window overlooking Opatickova, and a REAL, COMFY BED. We couldn't ask for more. ...Okay we could. There was no clock. So instead I asked for a wake-up call. Which I never got. However, reception was very apologetic and offered an alarm clock to borrow for the rest of the stay. The next wake-up call was on schedule. The complimentary breakfast was fairly vast by European standards (rolls, cereal, yogurt, fruit, sometimes ham/sausage and eggs, tea, etc.) Cab ride to airport was swift and easy, as was access to the internet PC in the lobby. Room was superbly quiet considering the normal nightlife din, and the room was cleaned each day. Staff was very accommodating and spoke English. Needless to say, it was money well spent and relieved a lot of vacation-end stress!

What a Delightful Location and Value

What a delightful location. It was within walking distance to the Charles Bridge, The Castle on the hill, The Clock Tower and Square, The Jewish Ghetto, and most of the historic buildings and areas you would want to visit. (We are walkers but nothing was truly that hard except climbing the hill to the castle for some(public transportation available) Being only a few blocks from the river and dozens of restaurants made this property even a better value. Even a little grocery/convenience shop two doors away. The rooms were adequate as was the bedding and washroom. The building itself had it's own special character, not the cookie cutter large hotel with cold corridors. The Elite Hotel has an aura of its own that is quite charming. Breakfast was buffet style in the mornings and was well stocked with a nice selection. In the evening the bar was open in a relaxed atmosphere. The staff was VERY courteous and friendly and truly seemed to be concerned with our needs. The only negative we incurred was no ice available, and you know what, we survived ! ! !

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

For dining in and around this historic area of Prague check the menu and pricing before entering. Also, many restaurants DO NOT accept credit cards. As we travelled exploring the sights during the day we would check out the eating establishments to return to later for lunch of dinner. There are some outdoor stands by the clocktower which provide a reasonably priced taste of some of the local cuisine at lunchtime. They cook a mixture of potatoes, ham, and cabbage (actually looks like scrambled eggs from a distance)that we really enjoyed. Also ham that is roasted on a spit and cut in front of you and wonderful sausages.

Great place for us

Hotel is in the heart of Prague on a narrow cobblestone street. Lovely courtyard for reading and drinks. Small but clean rooms (typical for Europe). English speaking staff at front desk and bar. Bartender is a jewel. Close (one block) to trams and subway. 10-15 minutes walk to Old Town and St. Charles Bridge. Very close to National Theatre (site of Don Giovanni premiere. Aida was performed while we were there) Great restaurant from 1902 Cafe Louvre two blocks away with wonderful food and atmosphere. Breakfast included in price. Not a Hilton but who cares. Great bargain-best of our European trip.

Dissapointment

I normally do not offer feedback but I don't want you to make the same mistake I did. My first trip to Prague from the states and as we checked in the hotel, we were wondering how this hotel was rated as a 4 star, not a good start for our vacation. As we walked in, the hotel was very old and musty, the website really tried to make an impression that the hotel was remodeled. We had rooms next to each other and didnt even have to use the phones due to the walls were so thin, I can hear the person using the bathroom, not a pleasant sound. You could hear everything outside the room, very very thin walls..The beds were uncomfortable and the rooms did not have sheets but a comforter, not sure when the last time they were washed. On a positive note, the front staff was nice and the airport to and from the hotel is a major plus! This hotel should be rated a low 3. a 2 star rating, it would be comfortable for one night but if you are staying for a week, I would strongly not recommend this hotel.....If you are looking for a 4 star hotel, I would look no less than 5 star ratings to receive the modern amenities you are used to getting in the states. Don't get me wrong, I love Prague but will not stay at this hotel again!!
