Wonderful Location in town

We wanted to be in town, not on the beach, so we could walk and enjoy the city. We were not disappointed. You couldn't get much closer to the center of things. The Hotel itself, is lovely, with wonderful gardens, restaurants and strolling avenues as well as pools. A few nights a week the restaurant has live music, which was excellent--first rate. The staff was outstanding and so very friendly, they learned our likes and dislikes very quickly and were so accommodating and cheerful. Our only problem had nothing to do with the hotel, the temperature and humidity was a bit warmer than we like, but otherwise the stay was perfect.

Great location for capital

Stay lasted only 3 days but great location to walk to all capital city . Slight faults in room put right within 2 hours by helpful reception. Staff in Village Square not exactly dynamic but it is laid back Curaçao ! Would have liked tea maker in room .... We are English!

Great location, wonderful ambiance, barely adequate room

I loved this hotel's location -- just off the vibrant waterfront -- as well as the Dutch-village design and courtyards, which are unique and give it European ambiance. The staff was courteous and helpful, especially the attendant at the front desk, who was invaluable in planning my excursions. However, my room, admittedly a Super Saver, was barely adequate. It was small, musty and had little storage space. It was nothing like the one shown on the Web site. There had obviously been a major water leak, as evidenced by stains on the curtain top and the ceiling, and the top of bathtub drain came off and never did go back on properly.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Dining alongside the Queen Emma Bridge is decent and reasonable, especially if you want to have a drink and linger for an hour or two. It is fun to watch the massive cruise ships entering and leaving the narrow harbor entrance. Ocean-front dining is pricier but generally worth the added cost.

An inspiring place to stay and

An inspiring place to stay and experience Willemstad. Rooms are in old village cottage-type houses, and the Kura Hulanda Museum also extends into the hotel areas. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful and as a guest you feel extremely well täken care of. Our room was not big but beautifully funished as was the bathroom. Friday Happy Hour on the village square with live music is not to be missed. And you have the centre of the town right around the corner. We thorough enjoyed it.

Exceptional and unique

This facility resembles a small village located within the city of Willemstad because it is a wonderful restoration of a former residential area. It is quaint with a definite Old World look and feel. It has a natural outdoor ambiance in spite of its 'urban' location which is convenient for exploring around the harbor, shopping and dining in the Otrabanda and Punda areas. Many amenities including multiple restaurants, pools, gardens, museum, live music, spa, etc are located within the hotel-village. Rooms (houses) are unique, varied and individually furnished. We experienced top quality service with friendly, professional, well trained staff. This is a great place where we would love to stay again.

Great Hotel in center of town

Hotel was made of local traditonal style buildings and so was the furniture. Not the best chair and desk if you need to do work in your room. Sauna facilities where great, but are closed on Sunday. Standing under the waterfall in the eco pool is an experience you will never forget. Left the Hotel room open to enjoy the fresh air; within no time the musquitos came flying in. Hotel is located in the center of Otrabanda and when comparing the price of this Hotel with adjacent Hotels you get much more for just a little more money. When walking outside to town at night you need to go 50 meters through a street that is not well lightened.

Beautiful locale

The location and design of this hotel are spectacular and not to be missed. Every corner is loaded with detail - you feel like you've entered colonial era Curacao. Our room was fine (we did not opt for the high end price). The food was excellent everywhere (in the hotel and other restaurants as well). The service was very accommodating - I was fascinated by how the staff could switch from Dutch to Spanish to English to Papamientu effortlessly. The island itself is different from others in the Caribbean in that it is dry - cactus and beaches together! The people are warm and friendly and you felt welcomed at all times. Since this a country that does not function by tourism alone - it is more interesting than other places we've been. One very small note - The service could be a bit slow at times - as is customary in non-U.S. countries - but nothing we couldn't deal with. We did ask for one discount at our hotel, due to a meal that we felt we were overcharged for...we ate at a buffet and there were no choices left so all we had were eggs. When my husband complained to the concierge - they deducted the charge with no problems. What did we do? Swam in 6 different beaches! Explored the fascinating Punda and Otraband sections of Willemstad, ate wonderful food went to Carnaval which was great - much more family oriented than Mardis Gras in New Orleans. And lucky for us - my daughter-in-law's best freinds from college live there and showed us around - so perhaps we got to see more than some other tourists might.

From our hotel - Kura Hulanda in Otraband - one can walk to cafes and terraces. It's easy to get to restaurants, cafes, bars, stores - both high end and touristy in a very short and pleasant walk.

Kura Hulanda hotel

The staff is slow, but the hotel itself is really unique and overall experience is enjoyable. The hotel did provide a shuttle to the beach, but: 1)the shuttle was not always on time; 2) it was a small van that could accommodate not more than 6-7 passengers; 3) there were just a couple rides a day. Nice restaurants on the hotel grounds, but there is a variety of them outside the hotel as well. Be aware:there are a lot of mosquitos!
