Kompas Hotel Dubrovnik

I feel it is little bit over priced for the sea view room we booked, although I understand that in general Dubrovinik is more expensive than other cities in Croatia. It is very nice location and few min walking distance to beach. It would be good for family with kids.

The Kompass photographs well, and was probably quite a sensational place when it was built in the 1950s, but now it's just tired and shabby. The staff is nice and helpful, but they can't make up for a facility that needs a complete makeover. I don't know how it holds on to its 3-star rating. It barely qualifies as a 2-star in my opinion. The location is good, there is a pool and some nice views from parts of the hotel, and it's only a 10-minute bus ride to the Pile Gate of oldtown Dubrovnik via the frequent number 6 bus (but you must walk about 100 yards to the bus stop). When you add in the bizarre complement of international guests of all ages, ethnicity, and sexual inclination, it feels like you've fallen into a Tennessee Williams play - and not one of his good ones. Caveat Emptor. If you're on a budget and can get a room here really cheap, maybe it's worth a shot. But when I've traveled half way around the world to see a destination, I want to come back at night to a hotel I enjoy staying in, not one I can barely tolerate.

Location is great, but the hotel staff were not helpful and sometimes rude.

Lo peor del hotel es su localización; se encuentra tan solo a 15 minutos del centro en coche (si no hay mucho tráfico) pero no es conveniente ir andando, porque hay que ir por la carretera. Internet solo disponible en recepción. La habitación era amplia, pero no estaba muy limpia. El desayuno es más que correcto, eso sí, y el restaurante aceptable.
