Fantastic Holiday in Dubrovnik

Hotel is beautiful with great facilities. It is well looked after and the staff can't do enough for you. Very pleasant and friendly. Guest Relations, and particularly Katarina, were extremely helpful and knowledgeable, with good suggestions on what to do. We also used the travel service for booking excursions, all of them fully enjoyed. We went to Mostar in Bosnia & Herzegovina, the 3 islands boat trip and also an excursion to the wine making region and the island of Korcula. Our room and the view from there was lovely, and the chambermaids did an excellent job. The food was great, the breakfast buffet has an enormous selection. No need for lunch after! The pool area is also fantastic, there are plenty of loungers and the bar staff do the full range of cocktails. The rooftop pool and spa were also good and less busy. Transport from the hotel to the old city is easy, as the hotel is the first and last stop on the No4 service. Recommend getting a bus pass, (ask at Guest Relations# we used the 3 day card which also gives discounts at restaurants in the old city and free access to museums and the walk around the city walls. Lapad Peninsula itself is very pleasant and also has a choice of good restaurants. It is a short walk down the hill #not steep). We will definitely return.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Leave the hotel occasionally and eat out in Lapad itself. Good food and good value for money. The local lagers are excellent, and if you like wine try a wine tasting. There are a couple of wine bars in the old city that do this and the staff are very knowledgeable.

Perfection

The view from this hotel of the Adriatic is so perfect that it made it difficult for us to leave and go sightseeing in Dubrovnik. Every room has a view of the sea (though try to get a higher floor since some views are partially obstructed). This is luxury. The lavish breakfast from the Elfiti room had one of the most breathtaking views, we would linger for breakfast forever. Rooms are modernized (ignore all negative reviews from previous posts, all rooms have been upgraded and look fantastic!) The bus literally is outside of the hotel, taking you directly to the old city in less than 15 min, it could not be more convenient. Our hint: Relax and enjoy the sun and pool during the day, head over to the old city around 4-5 to avoid the crowds from the cruises. This is perfection.

Nice break

Nice hotel and facilities, good staff, but a tad expensive. Regular No. 4 bus service to old town, get tickets from reception 12 kuna each way (cheaper than 15 kuna on bus :-))

Awesome hotel

We had a fantastic time at this hotel. It's located outside the main tourist area of Dubrovnik, so it was much more relaxed. Service was great.

not 5 star hotel

Charged 5 euros to get ice delivered to room. (Suite 801)Not 5 star hotel, more like conference hotel. Chaotic at breakfast time on terrace. They cannot cope with volume of people. taverna very expensive and not fresh sea food. A lot needs changing, all very expensive. Spa prices double to UK. What are they thinking of?!

Private boat to visit islands. All very expensive. Taking advantage of holiday makers. Taxis very expensive. Limited shopping. Nice people and glorious views. Will return and stay maybe in MORE or Excelsior.

This is not a five star hotel. They need to improve in all areas .

The location is great. The staff are friendly. The rooms are hot and untidy. They are not good sizes for a small suite. If you are expecting a five star go their sister hotel ,The Excelsior. What a shame because they could get this right.

Nearly 5 Stars but not quite...

Fabulous views and fantastic swimming pools (if a little cool). Pricey food and drink compared to what is available outside of the hotel and bit too far to walk to village in the evening when its dark. Would recommend for couples who want a very quiet up market experience. Bus service to Dubrovnik old town every 15 minutes - excellent.

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

Take a ferry to Lokrum Island from Dubrovnik Old Town costs about £6 return and you get really good views of the harbour and town as well as an escape from the city.

Dissapointing

The hotel provided a misleading description of the room which resulted in a sofa bed instead of a bed for one family member. When confronted and showed them clear description on my reservation of two beds, they refused to acknowledge or take any action to correct this. Also, the hotel was very busy and no lounges at the pool available. Also, the hotel is quite far from the old city and a public bus is needed which was full of people and unpleasant.

Perfect couples holiday which we didn't want to end!

We had a perfect holiday and didn't want it to end! The first night we arrived late thanks to our Monarch flight being delayed by nearly 4 hours! Most places were closed and we were quite hungry so ordered room service pizzas which were very nice. In addition to this, we ate at the hotel 3 times (2 dinners and 1 lunch). We had dinner at the Taverna Maslina restaurant which was excellent. I was quite disappointed that the sushi restaurant had moved from the top floor but they had just opened the lean and light cafe in it's place. We had lunch and dinner there and again this was excellent. The breakfast buffet was amazing and had lots of variety. Freshly cooked omelets and eggs to order were my favourite, not to mention the pancakes and chocolate croissants! I liked the fact that there was a 4 1/2 hour window to have breakfast all week long so if you wanted an early morning or a bit of a lie in you had that choice. We sampled numerous cocktails both in the sunset lounge bar and the swim up bar in the pool all of which were excellent. In addition, we had a couples exclusive spa treatment which was very relaxing and, compared to a similar treatment in the UK, was not very expensive. We also had a scuba diving lesson with the Blue Planet company which has an office on the bottom floor of the hotel. You actually go diving in the sea at the back of the hotel so there is no need to travel anywhere else for this. Although the hotel is located about a 15 minute drive from the old town this was not a problem at all. The number 4 bus stops right outside the hotel and takes you straight there dropping you off at the Pile gate entrance. It costs 120 Kuna per ride (about £1.20) or you could buy a Dubrovnik card which includes a bus pass. We bought a 7 day card each which include 20 trips on the bus along with entrance to the city walls and numerous museums for 220 Kuna (well worth it). All the staff were pleasant, friendly, and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them and all spoke perfect English. On the last day our flight wasn't until 7pm but we had to check out by 12pm. We were able to store our luggage at the hotel so we could enjoy our last day in the city. We would definitely stay at this hotel again and recommend to friends. Croatia is absolutely beautiful and we can't wait to go back to visit more of it! The food was amazing, the people lovely, and the scenery was breathtaking :-)
