Croatia Hotel Dubrovnik

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Cavtat, at the Hotel Croatia. The hotel nestles amongst the pines on a hill, and looks out to the front across one of the pretty village's bays/harbours where most of the bars and restaurants are located, while the back looks out across the Adriatic Sea. Our room was located on the 5th floor, was tastefully furnished and decorated, impressively comfortable and kept spotlessly clean throughout our stay. It featured a spacious balcony overlooking the Adriatic, from which we had an excellent view of the sea and the swallows flitting back and forth. The hotel's facilities were excellent - two lovely pools, a friendly bar and two restaurants, all with inside and outside seating areas. The breakfast buffet selection was extensive, offering something for everyone. The steaks we ate in the hotel's steakhouse restaurant were the best we've ever tasted (the steaks we had in the restaurant beside the play park in Cavtat were similarly delicious), although the hotel's steakhouse did lack ambiance. We walked down the hill to Cavtat each day and then back up the steps to the hotel afterwards, which is do-able if you're reasonably fit. I believe the hotel has other transport options available for those less able. We felt thrilled that we'd chosen to base ourselves at Cavtat, which is such a pretty and charming village located beneath a very striking range of hills. There are interesting coastal walks to be had from the hotel to the far end of the village, and do take a boat trip to Dubrovnik and do the City Walls walk - most enjoyable and worthwhile. The return bus journey was comfortable and reasonably priced. There is a supermarket in town, very handy for fresh-baked bread, cheese and local wine for lunch! We found a very nice, drinkable red for around 20 kuna (about £2.50 - has a ship on the label). The only issue we experienced was that the safe in our room didn't work - we reported this straight away and a workman came to look, but couldn't fix it. He implied he would return the following day with a part, but this didn't happen before our visit came to an end, so we only had the option of using the safe in reception. Our verdict: Fabulous hotel, charming resort, excellent value, returned home fully recharged and refreshed. Highly recommended!

A great place to be for a long weekend away. The hotel is not far from Dubrovnik, away from the densely tourist area, but close enough for a short bus ride to the historic and buzzing city. Beach space is at a premium, but that is the case all the way along the coast. The sea facing rooms gave a really good view of the sunset every evening. The village of Cavtat is 10 min walk with a selection of good restaurants, be prepared for steep climb back to the hotel, or wait for the buggy. The hotel had entertainment most evenings but we found our own in the village.

The hotel was perfectly positioned with good facilities, friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. The sea view room was worth the extra cost and the views were stunning. One or two minor niggles but nothing to put me off going there again. A great stay!

Stayed in this hotel with my wife and a kid in late August 2012. Very well located just 10 min from the airport. Clean and nice rooms with great sea view. Helpfull personel. Food was O'k. A little diversity on breakfast would be a plus. In sum, good deal for the money.

After a frought days travel, we did have to wait a little while to check in - but were able to use the hotel facilities until then. The staff were very helpful, and our small problem with the aircon was soon sorted. The room was as expected, but kept wonderfully clean daily by the maid service. We paid for the sea view and were not disappointed. Fantastic sunsets. The facilites were excellent - however the only two negatives we found were the lack of sunbed availability around the pool and the drinks prices- However, Spinakers by the sea has plenty of beds, and a fanatastic bar/restaurant too. Check out the live music here in the evenings - Not widely advertised, but well worth an hour of your time. We are already recommending here to friends!

This Hotel is everything you want.From entering when you arrive to the personnel at the front desk, who ar so willing to help. Everyone is so nice and polite. The room was excellent. Breakfast was awesome. I couldn't have eaten anywhre else for the price. Location was perfect. Thank you for a fabulous stay. I will recommend Croatia Hotel to a friend. See you soon:)

Great hotel, good location and a beautiful resort. 40mins from landing to being in room was fantastic and a big attraction. All hotel areas kept very clean and staff friendly and helpful. Only stayed BB so can't comment of evening meals, but breakfast provided good selection to avoid repetition and was always of a good quality. Only negatives were the large number of steps to access the resort below or beach (or should say rocks) keeps you fit but not ideal for the less able (golf carts available on request provide transport to resort below), drinks prices were expensive (40Kn for small Orange juice, 70Kn for short) and you need to be up early to reserve you sunbed by the pool (approx 100 beds for 600 guests). Would I go back, definately!

This holiday was for a birthday/anniversary celebration & we had the best holiday that we could have hoped for. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel and room were lovely and clean & the location was just heavenly. We swam daily in the sea and ate at great restaurants in the hotel and surrounding areas at reasonable prices. Even though the hotel was huge, it never felt crowded. We would highly recommend this hotel and location. We would definately come here again. Would point out that there are many steps to sea level so this could be a problem for some but the hotel does provide golf buggy transportation from hotel to beach and back for those who cannot do steps.
