Good return trip
The Sleep Inn is a very nice hotel in the center of the city of San Jose, Costa Rica. There are no swimming pools or trendy restaurants on the property but there is a non-smoking casino which is small but adequate for a gambler. Across the parking lot, there is the Magnolia restaurant and casino which is nice except smoking is allowed. The restaurant has a nice ambience and the food is about the best in San Jose. The menu is very big and the prices are ever-so-reasonable. The Promenade is two blocks away with several stores loaded with almost everything one would want. Also, everyone working at this hotel is very helpful in answering questions and most employees speak English. The gift shop is small and a bit on the high side. This is a VERY CLEAN hotel with great maid and room service.

The Promanade is two short blocks from The Sleep Inn. There is a small mall right behind The Horseshoe Casino with jewelry shops, a very good bakery, a fast food restaurant and a Bank of Costa Rica convience area which is secure can be found. The walk to this area is not "picturesque" but once in The Promanade area and this small mall, it becomes quite nice. About six blocks on The Promanade there is the Central Market. Simply make a right turn down the promanade and one will find The Central Market which is like a flea market. Souvenir and jewelry shops can be found but the restaurants are not that good. Leather goods and jewelry are very cheap. 1000 colones are about two dollars.

Location, Location, Location.......!
Excellent place for Mancation. i have been in San Jose many time, and i only wish that i had known about this Hotel. Many local places near by to go eat for a good price. for instance, i found this cafeteria, Bar Chelles, with good prices and excellent food. Locations of this cafeteria is calle 9 and Avenida Central.

World Traveller
Great value
Good location and value. Breakfast included. Airport shuttle and since I was the only one going they got me a free taxi instead. Very efficient staff.

Sleep Inn fan
Great return trip
The Sleeo Inn is very close to shopping, good restaurants, and , if interested, casinos. The small casino in the hotel is "non-smoking" and people are very friendly. Coffee and soft drinks are free at the bar in this casino but it is very small. Non smoking is a big plus though.

Short walk from hotel
Very short walks to the "promanade" area which has tons of stores, restaurants, drug stores - almost anything a person would want. The Del Mar is across the street which is very reasonable with a great "old plantation" atmosphere and The Colonial is across the parking lot. At night, one can walk 20 steps to the casino and restaurant and it is safe.

Not what I expected
The hotel building and rooms were fine and the staff was nice. However, the location leaves something to be desired.
