    Best thing about San Jose

If you decide to visit the capital of Costa Rica, I would highly recommend staying at the Hotel Presidente. From the moment we arrived at 7:00 a.m., we were greeted with smiling, helpful staff. We were allowed to check in early - and even upgraded to a jacuzzi suite! The breakfast was different each day with hot dishes, fruit, cereal, toast, danish, pancakes, omlettes. I can't say anything bad about our experience at the Hotel Presidente. It was awesome!

    Short city stay

I stayed here after spending a week in the jungle, and it was a welcome sight to see a clean, fresh room with air conditioning. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and always available. Breakfast buffet was good, too.

    Hotel Presidente - San Jose

We upgraded to the larger room for an overnight stay in San Jose. The room was clean but light on the basic amenities. It was on the main tourist street in San Jose which was very convenient and we felt safe in the hotel. However, San Jose itself was my least favorite place in Costa Rica and we will plan future trips to avoid having to go in and out of the city. The hotel worked perfect for what we needed: centrally located hotel, convenient to tourist sites, and safe and clean. NOTE: The hotel was under construction when we went, which was not listed on the website. Not too noisy but a lot of the hotel was taped off in the lobby.

We stayed for one night in route. The service was wonderful - dried our wet clothing at no cost (rainy season); organize our transportation to the airport. Clean and decent rooms. Would recommend!

    Perfect for San Jose

Spent our first night here in San Jose. We decided to rent a car at the last minute and were delighted to find that parking at the hotel was free. Staff was friendly and accommodating the whole time. The room was perfect and the free breakfast was delicious. Also, you can't beat the location for seeing downtown San Jose. It's in walking distance of most of the major museums. The only downside is that getting in and out of San Jose can be a chore, so if you aren't interested in the downtown experience, stay at one of the places outside of the city.
