San Jose at the front door, elegant downtown hotel with great amenities

Good hotel for the value
Wonderful hotel due to it's city center location. It felt so lively and was withing walking distance to all the major landmarks so no need to waste money on a city tour. It's Tropicana restaurant also offers some tasty low priced food that doesn't taste like hotel food.

The ariel tram through the rainforest is a waste of money. It's so slow and boring and you don't see anything except trees, no animals or pretty birds. Save the $90 for a better excursion

Great time!
Room service and valet was awesome. Reception was ok. I loved my view. I was on the 4th floor with a views of the park across the street. Excellent hotel. The best in San Jose personally. Thanks orbiz for making this trip possible.

2nd Time was even better
Room 601, corner room with a view of Parque Morazan. My 2nd time at this hotel because I really like the location and the free breakfast is a buffet with a great selection. The deal was able to get with that "O" travel site was the best one out there and even better then the first time I was there in Feb 2011. The bed is super comfy and room service at 11pm was quick and I got a caprese salald (OMG YUM!), chicken fingers with fries and a ginger ale for less than nineteen dollars. I thought that was prettty cheap for room service. Overall great place to stay. I will definately stay here again when I am spending my layover day in San Jose before my flight!

this is the best location for any first time visitors in San Jose Costa Rica. museums, stores, restaurants are only walking distance. day trips are also the best from this hotel. highly recommended.

Taking into account it's not the USA...
Definitely a great stay for our one night in San Jose, ending our week long trip in CR. Funny how a Holiday Inn is the most luxurious hotel when get to another country ...but great value for the money, great buffet for a reasonable price, great pool area with a ping pong table (!), tourist info center attached to the hotel lobby, English speaking staff, AWESOME views from our 14th FL room considering it's the highest building around. Would DEFINITELY recommend. Spend a few extra $$ and avoid all hostels & B&Bs in San Jose (we learned from experience).

I would not recommend this hotel the staff was not helpful and very judgmental. I felt like I was in a very hostile environment. Many problems in the room like lights were not working or the beds smelled and the TV remote did not work.
