Located just west of downtown San Jose, the Barcelo Palma Real sits next to La Sabana Park and the Costa Rican Cultural Center. From the Barcelo Palma Real it's about 10 miles to the international airport and just a few minutes from the Central Market, National Museum and Simon Bolivar Zoo. Barcelo Palma Real guests can arrange airport shuttle service (guests must reserve 48 hours before) and Wi-Fi access in public areas (fees apply). And business travelers can find a full-service business center and two meeting rooms for event groups.

Good location for a short time

Very nice accomodations
Breakfast buffet is excellent. The entire staff was kind, courteous, professional. Special thanks to Christian, the Gen. Mgr., Javier is my boy w/17 yrs at the same location, he took care of me. Every desk staff personnel bent over backwards to be helpful. I had a broken left foot, they provided a wheel chair, wheeled me to the breakfast buffet every morning, were accomadating for all my needs. Thank you very much, I love you guys.

Best in San Jose CR
Great location with a lot of restaurant options within walking distance (if you like to walk). The area is safe, taxis are reasonable (buses too) and the hotel has a decent restaurant. This hotel also has a world class Barman, Jose.

About a mile west is an area with a nice fresh food (fruit etc) market and a sushi restaurant.

the hotel was nice. the food(buffet for breakfast) was more than what i had expected. very good. the staff was also very nice. the only thing that i had a problem was that the room service was very slow. we had ordered a couple of drink,ks and it took more than 30 mintues. when it came to ordering food it took more than 30mintures( just guacamole) at the bar. we needed clean towels to take to our tour the next day and they were not availabe until 10am the next day. i couldnt believe that a hotel will run out of clean towels.

Best Hotel in Costa Rica

Very good hotel for the value.
This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. It is nicely located and in a quiet residential neighborhood of San Jose. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is surprinsingly good. There is a small casino adjecent to the hotel. The gym is small but adquate. The Barcelo hotel group is a Spanish hotel chain with a good world wide reputation; I recomend this hotel.

Short drive from hotel
There are two restaurants near that should be considered. At the Crown Plaza Coribici the Japanese restaurant Fuji. There is also a seafood place frequented by the locals called the Princesa Marina; order the Seabass or Corvina without bones and fried. Tell the taxi drivers to put on the Maria or meter when you get into a taxi; the ride to these two places should be no more than $4.00.

Great first time experience!!
My friend and I both had a wonderful experience at Barcelona Palma real! The service was impeccable and the staff was very friendly. Our room was stalked w/ all the amenities and it was so helpful to have a free airport shuttle! Definitely would recommend to everyone:)

Average hotel.
Stayed two nights. Arrived late Thursday. I was given a room on the first floor along the street. There were 10 rooms along the hallway. All empty on both sides. The reason I bring this up is because at 6:30am I was awakened and continued to be bothered by motorcycles, trucks, and car alarms. They could have placed me on the other side of the hall in the same room. I know that they were the same rooms because the next day early there was a man installing flat screen TV's in all the rooms in that hallway. The buffet breakfast was great. Service very good. The location is good, right near to Sabana park and the stadium. Room service and minibar are overpriced.

This hotel is not bad but quadruple overcharges the bar and in room minibar and taxi Shuttle needs to be asked fr 48 jrs before usage Absolutely not customer friendly I stayyed sev eral times and this was my last time They lost a customer
