Very Mediocre
The hotel amenities were fine for the price. I found the hotel staff to be somewhat unfriendly and inattentive. The food here was the worst I had after travelling two weeks in Costa Rica- incredibly bland and overpriced. Be prepared to pay $6 each way for a taxi into town. They advertise a "free shuttle" to the beach but when I mentioned it, they seemed to not know what I was talking about........

On the hotel website, they advertise a "mini-mart" on site. However, the mini-mart is under construction (apparently for at least a year) so you will need to go to town to pick up any type of needed supplies.

worst hotel of 3 weeks in costa rica
trying to enter the front gate i was treated like i was a criminal breaking into the bank, i understand that my confirmation on a paid reservation was not at the desk but give a traveler the benefit of doubt, the front desk was the same way rill the found my confirmation, this was booked through also. was told room was not ready which was fine check in was not till 4 pm, later then any hotel i have ever been to. specially since check out was at 10am. plus 35usd for every hour late checking out. reserved a bungalow facing the beach, was first tried to be put into a back room till i corrected that over sight. bungalow kind of faced the beach, was worn out and tired looking, the refrigeration made some strange sounds, layer of dirt or something on top. no ac or fan in living room. worn and dated furniture, small ac in bedroom, to small for room actually, blinds did nothing to block morning sun, lots of missing slats from the blinds. bathroom dirty and old, some sort of sponge shoved into the drains in the floor instead of a true grate to drain water off. calcium stains all over the tiles and walls, the front doors had cracks in the wood, the only positive was i got a really good deal on the place from , only 120 usd a night if i had booked through the hotels site it would have been over 300 usd, the other bad thing is why would i have to wear a bracelet saying i was staying in the hotel when there is no other hotels anywhere close to this hotel, at least not with in walking distance. i spent only one day there and left for other i can say they do have a beautiful beach, a nice looking pool and lots of open grounds. i think at one time this place was a really nice hotel but sadly needs to be updated and revamped with more to offer for the guest.

Great Deal
We got a great deal which helped us book at a significantly lower rate. That being said, this is not a hotel for those who have U.S. expectations of accommodations in Latin American countries. Being raised in Mexico, I think the hotel definitely had a rustic and relaxing atmosphere. The beachfront property is worthwhile on its own. The breakfast is filling but definitely not finger-lickin' good. Also the hotel is currently undergoing some major renovations so there was a good deal of noise but luckily one doesn't hear it much once one is in the room. Overall, the staff was very welcoming and helpful and we would definitely stay again.

If possible, rent a car. The transfer from the Liberia airport is $150 each way and when you add that to the cost of tour transportation the car pays for itself.

A perfect stay in paradise!
We got a super deal on the villa combined with our flights, and to be honest, we weren't expecting much from the other reviews. But, we were PLEASANTLY surprised! The villas are huge! We had everything we needed (aside from soap and dish towels-that kind of stuff-which we didn't mind to buy). 13 of us stayed. Grandparents, parents, little kids, couples-and it suited as all perfect! The beach is empty and amazing. There were always kayaks and snorkeling gear available. The hotel gave amazing restaurant tips! The staff is super friendly and helpful and were super good about booking day trips for us. The only thing we noticed, was the difference in cleaning ladies. Which, wasn't a big deal.. Sometimes the one woman would forget to refresh something, we would ask for it, and voila. The wireless internet cut out for the last week of our stay. Which, we were on vacation so it was probably better. We really enjoyed our stay! The villas on the beach just can't be beaten anywhere in Samara! There are fancier hotels for sure-But I couldn't think of a better place to stay!

Worst place ever.. You have been warned
Here's why I think you should think hard before staying here: I'm on day 3 of my 7 day trip. So I get a room next to construction which happens to start at 6AM every morning and goes on until night fall, then I don't have any hot water, so my last 3 showers have been cold showers. The front desk loves to apologize for everything but can't figure anything out. The food at the restaurant sucks. They tried passing off an over-cooked sirloin as a filet mignon. The wifi is obsolete, so don't even try. You'll get full bars, but spotty service. If the hotel service doesn't get you, the bugs surely will especially when the maids leave your door wide open as they try to clean it. Overall, I would never come back here even if it was free. It's so far from everything.

Everything is far. If you plan to close yourself off from the world, then this is the place for you. You can go have breakfast, layout at the pool, enjoy a light lunch, layout at the pool, have a drink, go to dinner, and layout at the pool.
