Steps from the tranquil, relaxing environment that exists at La Foresta is an untouched jungle within the shadows of the famed Manuel Antonio National Park,. Beautifully designed nature trails surround the resort; providing guests an intimate experience for observing over 50 species of mammals, 15 species of reptiles, and an exquisite butterfly garden. The resort also has the most exceptional bird watching spot in the area and is within 15 minutes from the Manuel Antonio beach.
Most noteworthy and easy to observe during your stay are the troops of squirrel-like, or Titi monkeys, a sub-species found only in this part of the world and in great danger of extinction. La Foresta Nature Resort has partnered with the Titi Conservation Alliance and is committed to educating staff members, while participating in reforestation projects designed to help the species thrive.
An outstanding feature of La Foresta Nature Resort is the exhilarating Titi Canopy Tour, a zip line offering 13 cables, 18 platforms, rappelling platform, suspension bridge and tarzan swing guided by experts trained to escort you through virgin and reclaimed rainforest. Two of the hotel longest cables stretch 380 and 450 meters, offering a glimpse of the striking flora and fauna that exist in hotel own backyard.
Conveniently located just 20 minutes from the San Jose airport by plane, La Foresta Nature Resort provides guests with an incredible setting, beautiful accommodations and excellent service. Hotel staff is available to assist guests with their local travel itinerary; including restaurants, activities, environmental efforts, or other recommendations to create an extraordinary vacation

Family Getaway
Theis a nice, clean place to stay. The pool is adequate, and the gardens are nice. The folks that work here are great. We had a two bedroon cottage that was perfect for our family of four. It had a full size fridge and kitchen sink with a microwave that made packing up lunches and snacks for the day a breeze. The buffet breakfast was good, with eggs cooked to order, fresh fruit, toast, rice and beans...typical Tico fare. We never ate dinner there. The downside is that the place is right off of the highway (good for bus, though) so there is no where to walk. It takes two buses and about 4o minutes to get to a decent beach, so be aware of that. If you have a car the parking is secure and that would make the location less of a problem. There is some highway/airport noise, but as the rooms are nicely aircondtioned that is not a problem.

Go the beach in Manual Antonio for surfing ect. The beaches in Quepos are yucky. Also, the night market in Quepos is good to pick up fruit and local food.

Great vacation spot.
The hotel was easy to find. It was a short drive to Manuel Antonio national park. The beach in the town is not the for swimming but the short drive to the park is worth it. The staff was great. The free breakfast is good and gives you what you need to start your day. The nature trails are nice. It has zip lines that are fun. Everything was great here. We will defiantly come back and bring the kids next time.

Terrific family vacation
Convenient to parks, town, and recreation. Shuttle service was great. Scenic location with trails and a zip line at the hotel. Monkeys outside the restaurant entertained us during breakfast. Fun time!

Arrive around 7 am or after noon at Manuel Antonio National Park for a shorter wait in the queue; otherwise, the wait can be an hour easily.

Close to airport
I'll give this hotel a 3.5 star. It was close to airport and convenient for us, but far from beach. And national park. Good thing was that they had a shuttle for free, otherwise it wasn't convenient. The pool was dirty, and breakfast service not very good, but I liked the trails behind the hotel and animal life in those trail was very nice. I also liked the porch in front of the room and the hammock for a quite time in the morning or evening.

Great all around
This hotel features a pool, hiking trails, a restaurant/bar, and a relationship with a great canopy tour company. The breakfast is hearty and free, the bar has a good happy hour, the restaurant has an excellent burger, and the staff is friendly and accommodating.

Short drive from hotel
Just down the road to Quepos, across from the hospital, is a soda (a type of restaurant). It serves authentic Costa Rican food at low prices with a friendly staff.

Fun place to stay
This hotel is great if you want a reasonably priced tropical getaway. They have a canopy tour and zip line, but recent floods have closed the hiking trails. It was fun to sit in the open-air restaurant and watch monkeys in the trees overhead. The bi-lingual staff is quite helpful. The food and service in the hotel restaurant are particularly good. However, if you plan to visit Manuel Antonio, be aware that this hotel is quite a distance away (about a half hour drive). The hotel has free shuttles to the beach, but you have to book them in advance and they don't come or go at convenient times. The nightlife and restaurants of Quepos are about a 20 minute taxi ride away from the La Fortuna Hotel, but the taxi drivers don't like to go so far out of town. The hotel is near a busy highway, and the noise of traffic was irritating. Also, because of the hot, humid climate, dampness is a problem. The towels smelled like mildew, the pillow case had mildew spots, and there was mold in the coffee maker.

Watch out for dishonest taxi drivers. Because the La Fortuna Hotel is so far from both Quepos and Manuel Antonio, the drivers don't like to drive there. They might try to charge you extra. Be sure they put the meter on as soon as you get in the taxi, and don't let them tell you that they will give you a special rate.
