Clandestino Beach Resort is located in the Central Pacific region of Costa Rica, in the middle of a large extent of sand which forms the Palo Seco beach.

Only a small strip of land separates hotel from the continent, by ways of a little bridge. This is why it is often called "Isla Palo Seco". This stretch of sand, at the feet of the impressive waves of the Pacific Ocean, is considered one of the best beaches for surfing.

The back of this small island is bathed by a magnificent and spectacular mangrove where you can go boating and observe the flora and fauna that is typical of these places. Located a few kilometers from the town of Parrita, the hotel is right on the beach.
Surrounded by beautiful mangroves, the Resort Clandestino Beach awaits you with traditional hospitality. The hotel also features a large, turtle-shaped swimming pool facing the ocean, a Jacuzzi, a waterfall, and a water mirror for sunbathing; all surrounded by lush gardens, green iguanas, wonderful birds, sloths and funny capuchin monkeys that come to the hotel from the Mangrove. It is in every sense a dream come true. Hotel offer a sophisticated destination with all comforts, a relaxing atmosphere and a touch of adventure.

The hotel has 12 luxury rooms, designed in natural tones and built with local materials such as Teak wood structures, Royal Palm leaf roofs, natural stone bathrooms, and bamboo ceilings, terraces and furniture. Hotel offer you 4 rooms with king size beds and 8 rooms with two queen size beds each (all rooms have TV, Free WIFI, A/C, ceiling fans, hair dryers and hot water).

For your safety hotel has security cameras and night watchmen.
If you chose hotel as a location for your wedding, Clandestino Beach Resort offers a wedding planning and organizing service. Hotel will take care of all the details you dream of for that special day. Palo Seco beach is an ideal place for romantic honeymoons or anniversaries, to enjoy and celebrate with your couple. The hotel provides amenities such as Billiards, Library and Reception.

Secluded and intimate

Beautiful location with great rooms and common areas. Lots of honeymoon-ers. Nice menu with plenty of options. Beach is fantastic although they do warn heavily about rip tides in this area.

Great hotel in a secluded location

We stayed 2 nights at the Clandestino and have been very delighted. The hotel is recent and superb, the rooms are gorgeous and comfortable, in a superb tropical garden with lots of animals (iguana, birds, lizards, ... and perhaps a few snakes although we didn't see one). The hotel owner (and her extreme sports loving son) is so friendly, helpful and will go out of her way to take care of you in a personalized manner. The restaurant food is very good (although a little bit pricey, but that's common in Costa Rica). The beach is simply magnificent (but beware, not very friendly for kids/family swimming due to rip currents, which are again common on this coast), you can walk or run for miles in gorgeous landscape and see almost no one. As for location, it's about 30mn away from Manuel Antonio which can be good or bad depending on what you want; we ended up liking it as the little town can get a bit touristy, and so it's a pleasure to return to this beautiful, secluded location on an island, in the midst of real costa rica nature, at the end of the day and lounge by the pool or the sea, totally undisturbed. Highly recommended!

Great Hotel on the beach

This is located on a secluded beach, and great place to spend a day or two lounging on the beach. The waves are rough, and going into the pacific ocean was not recommended. But endless beach to walk on and plenty of hammocks. Restaurant food was decent, and priced comparable to most places in Costa Rica that cater to international tourists. Staff was very friendly. Rooms were artistically decorated. Only drawback was the roughly 7 km from the main road where you have to travel on an unpaved bumpy road.

Due to unpaved road to go outside, and reasonably priced decent food at the hotel, we mainly ate at the hotel restaurant.

Bed Bug Hotel!:(

We arrived at the hotel and found both of the all white beds covered in bed bugs. When asking for a new room they offered to change the bedding. Refusing to stay in the room they made us wait 20 min to get a new room. Just to find the beds in the second room covered in bed bugs also. So on to the third room luckily no bugs but the room was covered in dirt from the thatched roof. After a long day of traveling (at least a 30 min drive to any thing)to get there we settled for dirt over bugs. The water was cold so don't expect a hot shower. The staff speaks very little English if any and the owner who speaks English and lives with in 100 yds offered no help with any of the problems. There is no swimming in the ocean next to the hotel because of the extremely dangerous riptides along the beach. If not renting a car be prepared to pay for travel to get to any attractions as this hotel is not close to anything and the staff will only call a taxi for you. The experience of the first night was so bad we left for a new hotel and still had to pay for the second night. I would not recommend this hotel unless you just want to sit by a pretty pool and sleep in a dirty room with bugs.

Peaceful

Cannot be closer to the beach than this-beautiful view of the ocean, and eat, swim, relaxed or eat literally by the beach but a little quite. My family just spent two nights there and that was right amount time.

Great private beach

Excellent if you dont want to be around a lot of people, almost private and beatiful beach, the hotel is nice, excellent service, not too much amenities and the menu at the restaurant can be short for a couple of days there and you may hear the TV from the next room. There is not too much near so it is a excellent place to disconect you from the world. The national park is just 40 minutes from there

Beautiful rooms/ location

You have to travel down a gravel road for a good 10 miles to reach the resort. The rooms smell very musty but they are really nice. The owner offered us a jet ski tour and then cancelled last minute because she forgot she had an appointment in San Jose. She left with the jetskis!

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

Go to Parrita to eat. It's far but the restaurant at the hotel is not good and it's really expensive.
