Guests may explore acres of tropical botanical gardens, observe exotic birds, butterflies, enjoy our own private waterfall, or walk through the town of El Rosario where you will see real middle class life in Costa Rica. Our bilingual staff is ready to help you plan your perfect vacation. Whether you want to experience the thrill of sailing through the rain forest on a canopy zip line, raft the level 5 rivers of Costa Rica, or simply go to the outdoor Farmer's market on "feria" day with one of our bi-lingual guides, we can make it happen for you. Our restaurant is perched on the cliff of the Rio Grande, overlooking a private nature preserve. We enjoy gentle breezes from the east, and listening to the Laughing Falcons that perch on a giant Kapok tree on the other side of the canyon. Our chef picks the dinner special each day based on what we have freshest. Enjoy international cuisine with a Costa Rican flare. All of our meals are designed as heart healthy, and we are proud to offer a variety of choices to suite every palate and dietary requirement. Best place to stay near San Jose airport

We've tried other spots, but have always come back to Vista del Valle. Definitely a better choice than staying in the city. Beautiful grounds and gardens and great views. Less than 20 minutes to the airport and an easy access. Have stayed there many times. Staff has always been very nice. Large breakfasts are usually included in your rate. I would rate breakfast much better than the evening meals. Nothing we've had has been really outstanding at dinner-- fine but just nothing terrific. Rooms vary greatly in size. We prefer Mango Manor and when traveling with 2 couples or family get both halves of the unit. Mango is quite large and has screens so you can open up the room to a large porch around the whole building (Mango split into 2 units). Garden views. Love the large hammocks on the porch and rockers. Has a small kitchen shared between the 2 units. There is no AC in the hotel, but you generally do not need it. In fact, at night you may need a blanket. The Exotic Woods suites are fairly small (about half the size of Mango), but have a great view of the valley. Also have shared kitchenette. Do not rely on the Exotic Woods futons as a place to sleep. for an extra guest. A few inches off the floor and very uncomfortable to even sit. It is a good place to place luggage. Unfortunately, the Exotic Woods suites do not have screens on the doors, so you cannot open them up without inviting various critters to come on in and join you. All rooms we've stayed in except the owners suite in the main building have had netted beds. The porches are a bit smaller as well. The Exotic Woods cost slightly more, but we definitely prefer the Mango suites. Note on reserving a specific room. Twice now we have booked specific suites through a third party. Then I always call to confirm the specific rooms and reservation with the hotel. Even though the Vista Del Valle staff confirmed we had the specific rooms booked, when we arrived we were given a different rooms. Because the bedding varies tremendously, this can be a real issue. Each time this has happened the hotel said it was the third party booking company's fault. Rather than argue that I had already called the hotel to confirm the exact rooms, I just let it go. They found rooms for us, not our favorites or what we had booked well in advance, but not worth a hassle while on vacation. Next time I will email to confirm!

relaxing location , nice staff .

relaxing location , nice staff . I wish the wi-fi reception signal was stronger , and no air-conditioning - just ceiling fans . Also , the beds could be a bit more comfy . No major complaints though . Oh , they really need to post the exact G.P.S. location on their website , because otherwise , this a difficult place to find with-out the G.P.S. location on an unpaved road . And definitely , try to arrive before dark !
