Very Good Experience

Would recommend Wed, Dec 9, 2015
Staff was extremely friendly but tips seemed to drive better service. Bars were often slow to serve and by default use the cheapest ingredients. Beer, skip it if you have any preference...not even the local flair. Rooms pretty clean, but cable is a joke and the towels the worst ever...consider that I spent 10 years in the military with 2 in the middle east.

Enjoyable Experience

Would recommend Tue, Dec 8, 2015
This was the first trip to Costa Rica, but it will not be the last. Although we rented a car and saw the sights, with the activities, food, and staff at the Hotel we didn't need to leave the grounds to have had an enjoyable vacation. The only negative was the work out room needed to be upgraded as some of the equipment was very old and in disrepair and you could get wifi only in certain places in your room (like sitting in the bathroom). But both the negatives gave me an excuse to get out and enjoy the beach, mountains, and numerous activities available. The friendly and helpful staff were always willing to help. The Concierge, Omar, was extremely helpful in directing us to the adventures outside the hotel that best suited us. Very enjoyable experience!

First time at Riu Guanacaste

Would not recommend Thu, Dec 3, 2015
Very friendly staff, clean rooms, food in general was really good. The wine was terrible. There was no body lotion or hair conditioning products provided by the hotel. The sand fleas were bad. Not enough wifi areas and insufficient bandwith. Peddle boats were out of order. Too few free water sports equipment available so wait time was too long if even possible.

Great vacation

Would recommend Sat, Nov 28, 2015
We had a wonderful time. First time we have stayed at an all-inclusive and were a bit skeptical. I have to say though, that we shouldn't have worried. The entire staff were so nice and always willing to help if you needed it. The hotel is beautiful. The only problem we had was no coffee maker in the room and all the TV stations were in spanish, except the news. One other complaint is that men were not allowed to attend the dinner buffets with sleeveless shirts, but was acceptable for women to go sleeveless

Never again!!!!!

Would not recommend Wed, Nov 25, 2015
The hotel is in a beautiful location, but servarely outdated. The staff is horrible. They where rude, almost never smiled and it seemed as if we were bothering them when we asked questions. I left money in my purse by accident not thinking $80 would disappear. When I went to put the rest of my valuables and money in the safe there was a sign that the hotel is not responsible for items stolen if they weren't in the safe. Which to me says you know you employe theives so I didn't bother calling. There where two staff member that did go out of there way for me and my friends Alberto and Jose in sport bar are awesome. The food was DISGUSTING.Not to mention they served the same things over and over again. We talked to other guest about the food and they also voiced there disgusted to us. The best food we had was in another hotel 3 hours away. We booked day trips inside the hotel but wished we would have waited because there were better/cheaper offers on the beach!! The rooms were outdated and grossed me out to the point I couldn't sleep under the covers. Not to mention the bed are hard as a rock!! There where no screens on the sliding doors so bugs came freely into the room! The bathroom was also gross and there was a mysterious blue ring around the faucet. The accessible handle bars were rusted to the point they where black!! The wifi barely worked in the lobby which was upsetting because my friends and I were so far from our families and couldn't regularly check in.

Girls trip

Would not recommend Wed, Nov 25, 2015
Some of the hotel views were beautiful, but the staff was unwelcoming and seemed like they did not care or even want to be there. The food was discusting and made all of the people I was traveling with, including myself sick. We paid a good amount of money for all inclusive food and beverages but the disco charges you if you order drinks which doesn't make sense. The entertainment each night was horrible because you could see even through the dancing, how much those employees did not want to be there.

Nice Hotel!!!!

Would recommend Wed, Sep 23, 2015
The grounds are amazingly beautiful. It reminds me of a fairytale Palace. The staff was very pleasant and the entertainment was good. The beach was a little rough at the hotel. If you want the full costa rica experience sign up for the tours& adventures in the lobby of the hotel for a fee. Its worth it!!! My only issues was you have to sign up 2 days in advance for reservations at the specialty restaurants. Which I was told it was originally 24 hours and it has to be done in the morning between 8am-11am. My room had a old, stale kind of odor and the shower mat was dirty which I complained about the next day and the reception advised it would be taken care of but it wasnt. It seems like the odor gets stronger as the day pass on my last night i couldnt take it and complained the mgr did offer another room I went to smell the other room and it had the same stale odor. my advice bring plug ins if you are like me and like fresh scented rooms. The drinks are watered down and not top shelf and the Wifi should be free. The 90 mins of free wifi you get only in the lobby is spotty and barely worked for us. It worked better on my ipad and not at all on my cell phone. The Jacuzzi and pools are cool as well as the buffet food.

Amazing experience

Would recommend Tue, Sep 22, 2015
My wife and I spent our 25th wedding anniversary at the RIU Guanacaste and it was everything we could have imagined. The staff was friendly and helpful and the resort was clean and comfortable. The food on the buffet was wonderful and plentiful and the food in the theme restaurants was very good especially the Italian restaurant. We would definitely go back a second time.
