Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort

This hotel is several miles from the Arenal Volcano. Our room had a view of the top of the volcano which was visible during our stay. The hot springs are about 300 m from the hotel. You can walk our they have a shuttle service that will drive you over there. The springs are beautiful and relaxing. The hotel restaurants are pretty good but a bit pricey. The breakfast is a good value at $20 per person. Great place to spend a romantic weekend.

Tabacon keeps getting better; it is a work in progress and progressing beautifully, as the natural springs and waterfalls and paths through the luscious cloud forest keep expanding. I can't believe there's any better hot springs resort in the world. We were there in June and it wasn't crowded at all; there was plenty of opportunity for privacy. The room was first-rate, large with lots of tile, great bed and TV, nice garden area right outside the door, quiet and private. And the service! Everyone was super nice and professional. We can't wait to return. The only downside is that it's a pricey cab ride into the nearest town (La Fortuna). But the food at Tabacon, while on the expensive side, was very good. (We brought breakfast food for the room and extra coffee which cut down on the food cost.) Try the Indian-Ayurvedic meals: delicious!

Having the grand spa included ith the room rate as well as easy walk or shuttle service and locker rooms and towels makes this a must hotel. The springs are idyllic. The food is pretty good. The tandoori option is the best for the money, over the buffets. As an independent traveler I felt a little big-brothered and braceleted, but it was all worth it, even the inevitable disagreement over mini bar pistachio consumption.

The hot springs were prettier than I had imagined. I did not know that they were going to be across and down the street from the hotel, but it is nice that the guests with day passes to the hot springs are kept separate from the hotel. The spa was very pretty, but we paid $70 for a 70 minute spa treatment, and only had 45 minutes. The front desk person at the spa just said sorry. Food and drinks are quite expensive, but the food is definitely worth it.

was there for 4 nights after staying at the four seasons in papagayo. it was a nice surprise/ change. the hotsprings were heavenly, the vocano view spiritual and people there were exceptionally nice. Rooms are a bit on the older side but were clean & nice & had some updated items added (like flat panel tvs). i look forward to my trip back to Tabacon.
