Ups and downs

Reception staff very rude and unwelcoming. Wrong room allocated but alternative was ok. Location fantastic, food and staff in bar/restaurant very good. Too many rules about using beach equipment and again staff rude.

A good place to relax as long as you book a deluxe suite

We stayed here two times in the last few weeks. The first time was an overnight stay in a garden room and the next one a five day stay in a deluxe suite. Surprisingly, the suite cost us 20% less than the garden room! but unlike the suite room! I would not recommend the garden room. The only negative experience in this hotel is the tropical buffet breakfast. You can order a more substantial breakfast than toast and Vegemite, but it is misleading to say that breakfast is included in the price.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Go next door to Sanctuary seafood grill for excellent food, which can be charged to your room. Away from the resort we really liked the Waterline restaurant for the atmosphere and great live music and okay food.

The place that destroys the Cook Island's paradise destination

After enjoying a lovely stay in Muri beach area, we ended our trip staying at this hotel for a couple of nights. Our choice was driven by the fact that it was supposed to be in a good snorkelying area with a 4-star facility to match. Our disappointment started at check-in. The receptionist welcomed us with a weird smile since we arrived before the regular check-in time. We were repeatedly reminded that we were early, while clearly the hotel was half full. Nevermind, what we wanted was simply let our bags in a safe area while enjoying the hotel facilities. The terrible service throughout our stay was just starting. It was followed by long wait for our meals (at least 1h, when they staff are in a slightly better mood), followed by very poor maintenance of the facilities. I believe that something really bad is going on as all staff gives you a weird looking face with a slow motion attitude that is so different that you will find in any other place of the country. With a reputation of a 4-star hotel, you could expect the room and amenities to match - seriously, you will only find out that they were probably better a few year ago. The whole place is downgraded. What about snorkeling? At first we thought that at least we could enjoy a good swimming and snorkeling. With so many fish write on the edge of the water you would think so. Well, this was supposed to be a marine reserve - the reality is that there are many fish simply because they are fed all day long with bread leftovers by hotel guests and staff. The reef is terribly damaged and there is really not much to see at all. After easily exploring the island by car or scooter, you will find many other better spots. My recommendation? Stay at one of the smaller, cleaner and better serviced hotels in Muri beach area. This hotel is expensive and does not deserve your hardly earned cash! I had such a lovely stay at the Cook Islands up until arriving at this hotel, and still trying very hard to let the good memories of previous days take place of the damage the terrible service of this hotel has caused to our vacation. At least, I hope you will not commit the same mistake I did - look elsewhere people!

Terrible Service - Extremely Understaffed

Since we got to the hotel our experience with the hotel was very disappointing. Although the hotel was not completely full and they had rooms available, if you ask for an early check-in (2 hours), they will charge you for that. Same thing for a late checkout. The Internet is overpriced and slow. What really upset me in this hotel was the service; they are extremely under staffed especially at the restaurant. I also found that the hotel is really noise with kids running all around the pool and the common areas, definitely not the perfect place for a romantic getaway I wouldn't definitely come back, would choose a smaller resort with better facilities. When checking out they charged us a ridiculous 4% credit card fee.

We had an amazing stay. The food

We had an amazing stay. The food was great, the staff were really friendly and the kidz club was excellent. Snorkelling with the fish just arms length away was fantastic and our son tried to catch the fish with his bare hands! The pool was a bit cold for us, but the beach made up for it!! Beautiful grounds and facilities - we would definitely go back!

Terrible service! We arrived early

Terrible service! We arrived early and our room wasn't available yet which was fine, but then after coming back twice after the normal check in time they tried to check us in to an inferior room to our booking and we then had to wait until after dinner until our room was available. I know sometimes things don't happen according to plan and it wasn't the end of the world, but the fact that at no stage any of the staff even so much as offered an apology was simply appaulling. Add to that they failed to follow through on making activity and restaurant bookings we requested and that another couple came very close to missing their plane because the hotel did not make their wake up call there is no way I could ever recommend this hotel.

NICE

Very friendly employees. The main pool was undergoing maintenance and didn't open until we left (great when it opened). Great lagoon for snorkeling. Very good food and fun daily activities. Good value.
