- The village of Vaimaanga is small and quaint, right in the middle of the southern coast of Rarotonga. This area of the island is where the reef is furthest from shore and the lagoon is at its widest, creating a calm and protected swimming and snorkeling environment. The lagoon at beach is part of the Raui the local marine preserve and is teeming with colourful and friendly marine life.
