Serenity with style and elegance. Experience the past

The tranquil energy and spirit of the monasterio was amazing! My stay began Easter Sunday and I unfortunately missed the historic Good Friday procession but fortunately also missed the crowds. The monasterio is in the heart of colonial Popayan and only 5 minutes from the airport. Wonderful grounds and ambience with a huge, gigantic oval swimming pool, which no one but me was taking advantage of. Correction: a variety o beautifully colored birds would ocassionally swoop down to test the water. A sauna after my starry night swim was perfect preparation for dinner. A dinner of Franciscan trout served in the restaurant in what was the original monks refectory was heavenly. The hotel hosts an annual gastronomy event as UNESCO has named Popayan a City of Gastronomy.would recommend this place for any type of personal getaway , workshop, or conference.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Apparently few shops in the area sell wine or beer but there are two mini Exito supermarkets within a 5 block radius where you can stock up on water, wine, and beer, fruit to put in the mini bar refrigerator and not pay 3.5 times the price (3500 pesos for water or 8500 or beer) at the hotel. I can understand overcharging for alcohol, but water????????? P.S. Water in Medellin is great out of the faucet, be more cautious in the rest of Colombia.
