Fantastic Vacation retreat
The Staff are dealing with guests with professionalism. Only the hotel should make it aware that morning hours too, should be no loud noises near room's doors as some guests are still sleeping. Other than that, everything at the hotel is 100% perfect. The location is wonderful for everything. The security at the hotel is well organized. The transportation is handled professionally. I would recommend everyone to stay at this hotel during their visit in Medelline.

Location, room & reception great; spa needs help
Business-class hotel, walking distance to Centro Oviedo, Carulla, Santafé. Very clean & quiet, away from traffic. Good reception staff, but employees were clueless with the outdoor jacuzzi. Gym/spa hours of 8am-9pm ok, could be longer. Good breakfast if included but restaurant very pricey otherwise. Rack rate is insane, but look for big discounts on the weekends when the suits are away.

3rd time at Estelar Milla de Oro
This is my 3rd time in this great hotel. This hotel has the best location, just a short walk to Santa Fe Mall. Breakfast buffet is delicious. This is my home at Medellin, I will stay at Milla de Oro every time I travel to Medellin.

Missing Medellin
Great stay!
Stayed at the hotel for 6 nights and 7 days and was able to eat at the restaraunt which was very good, ate the Arroz Cantonesa and it was delicious! Room service was delivered promptly and was very good, although there were a couple of mistakes on two of the orders (one missing a juice/and one missing the bread assortment). Everyone in the hotel was very nice and polite. I stayed at this hotel the last time and enjoyed it very much this time as well. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Medellin. Walking distance to two malls, hard rock cafe and other places to eat/drink.

Short drive from hotel
If you are looking for a good attraction, Parque Lleras is a great place to go. Try Ay Caramba with the NACHOS ESPECIALES which I found on the website and they had a youtube video to check out as well!

Great location
No free coffee, no city maps at the reception, water too expensive. I met my family in Medellin and they stay at the Comfort Sandiego hotel, much cheaper and a lot better, they had coffee, tea, donuts and the staff was excellent. Estelar Mina de Oro has a very location, close to 2 great malls. that's it. They said is a 5 stars hotel, but i give only 3 stars top, no pool.

Bizarre mix of pros and cons...
The Good: Hotel location is nice. Located across the street from commercial shopping center and a few blocks from Oviedo, another mall complex. Easy access to a taxi at any time if you need to go somewhere else. Safe business/residential district...(EL POBLADO) Breakfast buffet was tasty. INTERNET INCLUDED FREE. I am a hater of hot-shot hotels, like Marriot/Hilton that continue to screw businessmen by charging extra for the internet...This hotel, along with a few other high-end hotels in Colombia include the internet FREE. Good showers....lots of hot water. Good control of the heat/AC in this hotel. Not many can say that. The Bad: Firm-to-hard-HARD mattresses, and the full, fluffy pillows that make for a nice picture, but a kinked neck in the morning, and lastly...The "click-together" laminate floors in the rooms are cheesy...It makes the rooms loud, cheap-feeling, cold, and you can hear your neighbor whether you want to or not. The floor made me feel like I was in a small, U.S. stater home...not a 4 or 5 star hotel.

Most hotels try and sell their customers on their own "in house" taxis. Because they work for the hotel, you're going to be safer...that is what they will tell you. That's just a nice sales line. The hotel will gladly call a yellow taxi..."taxi amarillo urbano" (yellow urban taxi) that are the most common, knowledgeable, and guarantee a rate that is standardized. In the 15 years of traveling all over latin america, I have met ONE hotel taxi that does not take advantage of the hotel customer and his/her inexperience...charging 50 to 150% more than a regular taxi. The taxis use a metering that reflects a numeric number that they (and you) can cross-reference on a publicized chart to determine the exact amount to be paid. Hotel taxis thoroughly enjoy NOT using one. Guess why. General rules in Medellin are as follows: Minimum charge: 3,200 pesos. (%1.75 approx.) If on a weekend, or after 8 pm, an additional "night surcharge" of 1500 pesos ($1.60) is added to the total. The metering device used is simple to follow, and the taxi driver should always hit his reset button to start it when you get in. As a couple examples, if you get in, and take the taxi even just a 100 yards...or perhaps a block, you'll be paying the minimum of 3200 pesos. If you traveled to some point and the meter shows "50" as the range traveled, you and the taxi driver consult the cross-reference chart. Interestingly enough, it also would equate to about 3200 pesos. If your meter showed "100," obviously it would 6400 pesos...exactly double the value of 50. If the same taxi ride were after 8 pm on any day, or on a weekend, an additional 1500 pesos would be added, so 7900 pesos total. If you choose to use a hotel taxi driver, look out! They just pull numbers out of their rear ends, and they use no metering device. You're at their every whim. Visit "Calle 70" for a host of great options for food. Parque LLERAS (pronounced YERas) is the most popular, hot-spot for food, small bars, etc. Calle 70 is less expensive in general, and not so touristy as Parque Lleras. Enjoy.
