Entertainment tip:
In Hotel
Bypass the chiva bus unless you like being jammed in a seat, being preyed upon by vendors and left dry. It sounds like a rocking time, rolling along with music and drink but it just ain't so.

Good for business

The staff was really nice and the rooms and hotel where very modern. The room was clean and the staff was always willing to help. Capilla del Mar is a great hotel and also offers a great price.

Dont buy from any of the sellers that are walking around trying to offer you neckalses or masages or sunglases. Its a rip off . And dont even look at them because they wont go away just say NO firmly and walk away.

Fantastic hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My girlfriend now fiance lives in Cartagena. We had a beautiful stay at this hotel. We were engaged and we had her family there for her daughters birthday party at the pool and a dinner after to celebrate the occasion. The staff was fantastic and made us feel very special. The rates are very reasonable and I would highly recommend this hotel. The beach view is fantastic, and the restaurants are very good and reasonable.. And the buffet breakfast was excellent. Do yourself a favor and try this place.

Very nice hotel, on the beach
Very nice hotel, on the beach and at the mean time close to the shopping area of Bocagrande and 10 minutes from the historic center of Cartagena. Very large rooms, with nice sea vieuw. Only one regret...As we have been told by the staff, all standard rooms have 2 standard size beds. You have to book a junior suite to get a queen or king bed.

Happy old couple
Friendly Hotel
The hotel location in Boca Grande is very convenient since is across the beach and San Martin avenue where all restaurants and shops are located. We booked the standard room but for $20.00 more per nite we got the all new remodel room facing north with balcony which was worth it. The breakfast buffet was very good, San Marino restaurant also very good the roof swimming pool with a tremendous view all around was tremendous and the bar also. All the hotel personnel were very friendly, helpful and polite. We recommend this hotel

Best View Comfy Stay
LOVED the hotel actually. The Daily Breakfast Buffet had a variety of items that included (fresh) yogurts,cereals, succulent exotic fruits (mangoes, papayas, passion fruit, pineapple, watermelon), breads, cheeses, meats, croissant, jams, scrambled eggs, made to order omelets, and on and on ... The hotel has a rooftop pool bar with panoramic and sea views. My room was simple, clean and perfect. There's also a gym on the 4th floor with treadmills more. For me the highlight is the close proximity to the beach. I did beach walks daily. There is a lovely fresh ice cream spot and a casino within a block. The employees were pleasant, kind and accommodating.

Basic but decent; great breakfast buffet
This hotel offers basic amenities and it is located right on the beach. The staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet honestly made me happy. If you are looking for a comfortable place to stay while you explore Cartagena, this is a good choice. But if you want to spend a lot of time in the hotel, or if you want to spend a lot of time on the beach, I would recommend staying at one of the islands (Catalina, Providencia) because the hotel is very basic in terms of creature comforts. For example, there was no bathtub, the gym was sparse and there is no swimming pool at the hotel. If you want to spend time on the beach, I would recommend going to one of the islands just because the beach near the Capilla del Mar hotel and in the surrounding vicinity was polluted by (1) trash and (2) vendors trying to sell massages, food, drinks, hair braids, etc. They are like mosquitos -- one cannot relax because he/she is too busy swatting these pests. It was kind of annoying. Plus, a beach-goer has to mind his/her possessions. My flip flops were stolen from my beach chair. Clearly, this isn't the hotel's fault, but this type of issue is related to the hotel's location on the public beach. If you want quiet, desolate, uniterrupted beach time, go to a hotel on one of the islands with a private beach. Just an opinion. The breakfast buffet was quite good.

Capilla del Mar...
Hotel service is exceptional, all, but the front desk. Hotel rooms are OK, if you get a renovated room, but old room are fair. Ocean view offer is inaccurate, since they placed you on the side of the hotel and then you can have a partial view of the beach&sea.
