Nice hotel, but not 4 stars

I stayed at the Alma for 4 nights in April 2012. The hotel was in a good location for making the rounds I needed to around the area in the Chapinero area. Staff was exceptional. They are informal, but effective from my experience. The room was adequate, with an updated bathroom, nice flat panel TV, and a desk to do work on. Breakfast was very good and service was great. There are very few choices for dinner in the area, so I did have dinner at the hotel restaurant twice. Food was very good, but very limited in choice (understandable). Bed was firm and comforter was great for the cold nights. Now, for the negatives. My room was on the ground floor and felt cold and damp. There was water damage almost all around lower part of walls in the room facing the outside. The outlet connected to the TV was partially exposed. Temperature control in the shower was difficult. Overall this is a good choice if you need to stay in the area. Area seems safe during the day, but I would be careful at night.

My wife and I love this hotel

We stayed at the Alma 10/24-10/30. The staff was fantastic. They sent a ride for me as I arrived at 5am. They let us check in early at no extra charge. The complimentary breakfast was consistantly delicious. Going back in December and i will stay at the Alma. Exquisite

Best location for downtown and north city visitors

A little gem in hidden rocks. The european boutique appeal prevails throughout the entire building, which surely was a residential house some 5 decades before. Although located in a residential area, a little bit of cars and people noise leaks in the rooms, but this is common in almost every hotel in a busy and crowded city as Bogota!. Room is small but cosy, it has everthing you need, including a very confortable bed and a modern bathroom. Great service.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Zone G (zona G), 5-10 minutes from the hotel, Great cuisine. Also, just within walking distance, behind the hotel, there is a couple of restaurants that serve excelent Colombian fusion cuisine at vry moderate prices.
