The hotel room seemed to be quite run down. It was clean but it is definitely showing a lot of wear and tear. Stains on the carpet, furniture, etc. The most frustrating part of staying here was the internet access and the customer service
associated with it. The description of the hotel states that it provides free wi-fi in the lobby. We had taken an ipad with us and tried several times to use the internet with no luck. We got a different excuse from every employee we spoke to about it. The internet had to be accessed by a password that had to be sent via text to a Chinese cell phone. Obviously as a tourist, we did not have this. Finally after asking 4 different hotel employees one of them said they would text it to themselves and then give it to us. Then suddenly the internet just wouldn't work at all. It was just one excuse after another and no one would give us a straight answer. Finally they sent us to the executive business center which consists of one ancient laptop and a broken TV. Even after all that we had been through to use the free wi-fi, they made us pay to us the "business center." Very poor customer service all the way around. And my wake up call was late. Not a great experience. I will look for a different hotel if I go to that area again.
Great room, decent service, and a good hearty breakfast. Excellent value overall. A bit far from the train station/downtown areas, but easily manageable by taxis. Lots of Lao Wai at this hotel. My only complaint is that they put up a bit of
resistance before giving me a non-smoking room. Not a big deal considering the price and very nice room.
