New World Shenyang Hotel
Hotel is pleasant, clean (except for room carpeting, but this is typical in China)and staff were professional and helpful. Breakfast buffet was vast and made good start to the day. There was no wi-fi in my room [...]. We suspect there is no pool at this property as two of us looked for it and ended up in a back of the house hallway. The "health club" is functional but one room with three treadmills, tv, a stair climber and some weights off a deserted hallway could be improved. Centrally located with shopping accross the street. Hard (but comfortable) beds but again this is typical for China. I would stay here again.

Shenyang New World Hotel
Nice older hotel near high end shopping malls. Good access banks and local food places. Starbucks within walking distance. Service is more than adequate for the average traveler. Good breakfast buffet. The only reason I hold back from giving this a five star rating is the shabby exterior of the building and the hard beds they have to offer. Lucky for me a hard bed works well. The interior is clean and well maintained by a hard working staff.

Don't be afraid to ask directions and seek help I was more than surprised with the help given me on more than one occasion. More and more college age Chinese people are using English. So seek them out. Use local restaurants not the hotel restaurants who do charge more for meals.

Fantastic Location
Location is fantastic, situated right next to the 2nd largest shopping mall in Shenyang, although taxi or subway is needed to get to the big tourist sites such as emperor's tomb or emperors palace. They offered free breakfast buffet while I was there and it was outstanding Chinese food, but the only western food offerred were fried eggs. Able to catch a taxi, subway, or bus easily right outside the hotel. Bed is hard as a rock and uncomfortable. Staff are not the sharpest utensils in the drawer but pleasant and a few can speak English. I would stay here again, but caution travelers that the bed is extremely hard.

They have an excellent resteraunt nearby with English menus It is called Coolboy Tea Resteraunt and is located in the -1 basement of the nearest shopping building across the street - the same building as the Subway Resteraunt.

New World was not New
The hotel was in a great location. It was not in dis-repair but is in need of a face lift. The people were nice but not too much english was spoken. The pool was broken for the almost two weeks I was there. I was a tourist and enjoyed my stay when the air was breathable. The beds were very firm maybe hard.

Long walk from hotel
There is alot of good food for inexpensive prices all around the walking area. A book on basic Chinese phrases will help. Bank of China is right across the street for any financial dealings. The underground and food courts have mounds of good food. If you don't like chop-sticks better take some of your own place-settings.
