Luxury retreat in Shanghai near the Bund

This eye-catching 26-story hotel -- topped with a lotus crown and anchored by a glowing glass staircase -- frequently appears on the Condé Nast Traveler "Gold List." The 570 spacious rooms include Westin's Heavenly bed, free wireless Internet, and an oversized marble soak tub. Hotel staffs need education about service

1. I couldn't find small spoons for yogurt. When i asked, one of hotel male staff brought to me a dirty one. Starting the next morning, they put small spoons on all tables. 2. The same morning, there was a local airplane pilot smoking in a lobby toilet. 3. Staffs don't smile at all when they serve meals or assist customers. Hope this is not a local culture. 4. Had to wait for glasses for juice for about 5 min. Frustrating. 5. They need to UNDERSTAND WHAT SERVICE MEANS because i paid for it. 4.

Disappointed

After being pampered and spoiled at another 5 stars hotel in Beijing, this Westin hotel did not meet our expectations. The room was small, the carpet was old... The location was great. One thing that bothered us was that the staff would only recommend certain restaurants and tour company (seems like we could not use any other company that was not recommended by the staff). Another costumer was complaining about the same issue. When asked about another tour (that we saw in the streets) the staff would just reply that it didn't exist (did they think we were "dumb"?)

Unbeatable location for the price

SPA is OK they have 50% off You can take a brake from the china cosine they have allot of European restaurants

Great hotel

Great loction. Fitness center well done, all equipment had its own TV, Buffet breakfast was terrific, croissants were delicious.

Great business hotel

Attentive staff, free wi-fi throughout, and great design/decor. Would definitely recommend for the business traveler. I had a 1 bedroom suite which was a nice way to escape from the desk. Luxurious bathroom with toothbrushes and toothpaste and complimentary bottled water--love that!

Customer Service - they really 'get it'!

What a great spot to stay while in Shanghai (2 stays during the course of our trip)- exceeded our expectations as seasoned travelers. Staff was welcoming, knowledgeable, creative and helpful - even more important to guests who don't speak the local language. The beds were top-notch comfortable, and the list of possible add-ons if desired was visible to the guest. Privacy was respected, the property offers a quiet respite from the busy city it's located in. Front desk, concierge and staff that greeted were friendly and well-trained.

Nightlife tip: Short drive from hotel

Use the metro to get everywhere - it's fastest, including the Jazz clubs - we enjoyed the "Brown Sugar" in Xitiandi - about 2 metro stops from the hotel - or a very inexpensive taxi ride.

wonderful hotel

Nicely located hotel that is close to shopping, restaurants (both Chinese and Western) and the subway station (on E. Nanjing Rd.) You can walk to the Bund area easily. The hotel is one of the nicest I have stayed in. The hotel restaurants are a bit pricey but you have many other options nearby. I would definitely stay there again.

I love getting around the city on the Metro so the subway station being about a 10 min. walk from the hotel is great. For 3 or 4rmb, you can get around the city quite inexpensively and not spend time sitting in traffic.

The Bomb

Price/night = $116. For quality of experience, well worth it. Great loc. and really nice room. When people say this is starwood's best property, I can see why.

Beautiful Hotel

The hotel was very clean and the service was exceptional. Short walk to the historic Bund waterfront. Construction on the waterfont did not allow us to view the river though. We stayed in a suite which was very large and clean.
