Just ib the right place

A great hotel with an ideal location for all that Shanghai has to offer, terrific view of the Bund! Staff were helpful and welcoming trying to meet the needs of a wide range of nationalities (some who seem to have no manners!). Loads of places to eat nearby, and wine shops and pub mean the expensive hotel prices can be avoided.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Use the subway, its quick, cheap and easy. Look for the booth by the turnstiles to buy your 3 day ticket, not from an automated machine

Good Value

The location for this hotel is great. Room is not "clean" for 4 star standard. Sound-prof of the room is very bad, you can hear what is going on next door. Breakfast is pretty good (including both Chinese and Western food), but spaces (tables) are limited. Do not take taxi lineup outside the hotel. 1. they do not go anywhere except airport. 2. they will try to charge you more (do not pay anything above the meter)

Perfect location

From the Salvo, I was able to amble along the Bund, walk to the Pudong area, walk to the Yuan gardens and old town, the antique market, the fish/bird/insect market. At night, there were gorgeous views of the Pudong lit up. Take the time to wander the streets and alleys just up the block from the hotel. Try a $5 foot massage (1 hour) for full body for $10. No appointments required and they are open until late at night. Several establishments per street - just cruise - some are very clean, others .........

Personal Travel

Hotel pretty clean, but living room area is little dark without window. Suggest partition between living room and bedroom to be sliding door, which could open up into one room.

My husband and I stayed at the

My husband and I stayed at the Salvo for four nights and found it quite comfortable. We had upgraded to an executive room and although the internet was very slow it was good to check emails etc. free of charge. The breakfast was very good and the staff polite. We did miss the friendliness of other hotel staff on our trip and no one spoke much English even on the concierge desk. The hotel is in a good location with the Bund just 7 min walk away and also shopping streets and cheap restaurants nearby.
