A different flavor of luxury at convenient French Concession hotel

The Hilton Shanghai opened in 1988 as the city's first five-star hotel. The 714-room property in the French Concession remains a popular business hotel and frequent overnight stop for airline crews. The eight bars and restaurants include some novel choices. The exceptional People on the Water prepares seafood Ningbo-style. Leonardo's offers the unlikely pairing of Mediterranean fare and Japanese teppanyaki at dinner. Guests can stroll through lovely Jingan Park across the street and catch subway Line 2 to explore greater Shanghai.

Highlights
  • Shanghai's first five-star hotel, opened in 1988
  • Convenient central Shanghai location near Jingshan Park, subway Line 2 and Yan'An Elevated Highway
  • Eight bars and restaurants
Rooms

All 714 rooms in this 40-story tower provide high-speed Internet access (fees apply), a large desk, mini-bar, and safe. Standard guest rooms -- measuring 355 square feet -- stick to subdued sand and earth tone colors. Executive rooms, remodeled in 2008, sport a more streamlined modern look. The panorama suites boast the best views in the house.

Dining

Guests find intriguing dining options from bottom to top of this 40-story tower. The sunlit Atrium Café makes a cheery spot for breakfast. Penthouse Bar on 39 tries to import a New York club vibe to Shanghai. Leonardo's offers the unlikely pairing of Mediterranean fare and Japanese teppanyaki at dinner. The exceptional People on the Water prepares seafood Ningbo-style.

Recreation

Guests find a dip into the waters of their choice at the spa: Jacuzzi or cold plunge pool, Japanese bathing area, or Turkish steam room. The hotel features a Finnish sauna for after a lap in the indoor swimming pool. The fitness center includes squash and tennis courts and offers weekly classes in Pilates, yoga, spinning, and five different massage treatments.

GREAT HOTEL AT FINE LOCATION

A perfect hotel in a great location, walking distance to both Nanjing Road and the French Concession area. Great restaurants within walking distance. The hotel breakfast buffet cannot be beat. The subway is two short blocks from hotel. From airport take Maglev train to last stop then transfer to Number 2 Line to hotel.

My review of Shanghai Hilton

Every thing was fine but I think the Hotel needs more maintenance. The Romm was clean, and thethe bathroom too, no problem. The location was good I had the possibility to take the Metro for some tight appointment. Food was O.K. and the service of the Concierge terrible , he needs to be more trained about information of the area. The service in the breakfast area was fast, in the morning no problem.
