GOOD LOCATION-AVERAGE SERVICE
I HAVE STAYED AT THIS HOTEL SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LAST 3 YEARS BUT WAS MOST DISSAPOINTED THIS TIME. THE ROOF TOP BAR ON THE 26TH FLOOR WAS UNDER RENOVATION AND I DID NOT KNOW THIS UNTIL I CHECKED IN WHICH IS ONE OF THE REASONS I STAY THERE WITH ITS GREAT VIEW OVERLOOKING THE CITY. ALSO, EQUIPMENT THAT I ROUTINELY USE IN THE GYM WAS BROKEN AND WAS ASSURED BY MANAGEMENT THAT WHEN I RETURNED THE FOLLOWING WEEK, IT WOULD BE FIXED, WHICH IT WAS NOT. I AM NOT SURE I WILL STAY THERE AGAIN. I HAVE ANOTHER MODERATELY PRICE HOTEL ALSO CLOSE TO DOWNTOWN.

shock
i stayed in this hotel for about 4 hours and that was more then enough. The Hotel Was much smaller then expected. I requested a none smoking room with 2 beds. I got a smoking room, when I asked to change rooms I got a room with one bed and a chair. When I asked if they can bring me a cot at the very least until a room opens as it was now between 3-4 in the morning due to our delayed flight plus all this. They said “You mean now??” I hoped they were joking but i was wrong. The concierge said will try and give you a cot tomorrow. They wouldn’t event give me an extra chair to sleep on. The next morning i requested to check out and checked into another hotel for the next 7 days of my trip. They said they were issuing me a full refund so in that respect. The staff became decent in my eye’s. but from the night before I couldn’t give a rating of anything more then what I did. Not to mention the fact that in the hotel lobby there is a group of people begging for you to get a full massage+ IF you’re a smoker who doesn't care about cleanliness, and wants a hotel with “massages” this is the place for you.

disapointed
The location of the hotel is not too bad, it's 10 mins taxi drive to most of the travel spots. The hotel charged us directly when we booked the room three weeks ago. (Kind of disturbing! Left us no choice but stay there.) when we got three, they gave us a half-size room of the room we paid for, very small, didn't even have full window. After talking to the manager, he said he will UPGRADE us immediately. In fact, that's the size of room we paid for. Very dishonest! The breakfast was horrible, there were very small varities, felt like nothing to eat. Tables and chairs looked very oilly and dirty. Two of us had diarrhoea after breakfast. Most of the People who worked there seemed like poorly trained and not happy to work there, they dont have good manners. The whole hotel needs good renovation and good training for the staffs. The only thing positive about this hotel is the shower was very high pressure, that's it!I will not stay in this hotel again and will not recomend anyone who want a pleasant trip to stay there.

This hotel seems like new, and
This hotel seems like new, and the room we occupied was just newly renovated. It has a big bedroom as well as a living room with sofa bed and LCD TV. You can also cook in the room with nice utensils and fully equipped new and modern kitchen. The location is good, and not far from the world known Shanghai Bund. It was my pleasure to have stayed in this hotel, and would likely go back again if I were in Shanghai.

Nothing worked at my four star hotel
On the positive side, the look of the Peninsula was wonderful (great decor, nice bar, friendly English speaking staff, nice/clean rooms). The view of The Bund we had was simply breathtaking. The complimentary breakfast we had was very nice (simple but nice selection). They even had a K-TV (Chinese karaoke) there for us to use. However, some of the major attractions that appealed to us were not in service. The pool (me and my fiancée love swimming), was under construction, as well as the Midnight Rooftop Bar. This bar and the view from the 26th floor, from the pictures, was one of the major reasons we booked this hotel. There was no notification of this on the website or anywhere, until you actually come to the hotel and get on the elevator. Lastly the sauna was not working at all, which is something we try to enjoy whenever we go to a hotel. While they were very accommodating (giving a 1 day free internet voucher, and The Bund view upgrade), it would've been nice to know some of the major features there were unavailable. All in all I think if all the facilities were available, The HengSheng Peninsula International Hotel would be a fantastic experience, but unfortunately we were not able to get the full effect.

Long walk from hotel
Try to use the subway more, taxi's are ok but start to be expensive after a while...if it's nice enough, do a bike tour or take time to walk and take in the amazing scenery.

Gross floors but good amenities.
There was really gross stained carpet though out the hotel. The staff was helpful though and it had everything a big hotel should have. (restaurants, fitness, etc) The location was perfect too. Room was worth what we paid, not a lot.
