Visitors to Labuan can now enjoy a seaside lifestyle at the Palm Beach Resort & Spa which is poised to be a new landmark at the northern tip of the island. Initially known as Sheraton Manikar Resort, the new owners of the 17-acre property that offers 245 spacious rooms and a breathtaking spectacular sunset over the South China Sea, has undertaken upgrading works that is giving the resort a rejuvenating new lease of life. The new team, associated to Tiara Labuan Hotel, aims to bring the resort back to its past glory, and, more importantly, to provide guests with a noteworthy experience of resort living. The MD revealed: "New facilities are being built. Among the first is a mini 9-hole golf chipping and putting course, to be followed by a dining-by-the-sea restaurant with seafood bar-b-ques". He added that to further complement the upgraded gardens, a design-and-build tropical jungle, positioned between the resort's buildings, is also underway. "Apart from showcasing local species of trees and shrubs, they could also enjoy the coolness of being under the shade of leafy canopies and feel closer to nature", he enthused. Visitors to Labuan, which is rich in history and often described as being a safe, friendly and squeaky clean town, would also enjoy duty-free shopping as the island is one of two free ports in Malaysia. Many that have been here make return trips. Some to escape from cold winters and savor the warmth of the tropical climate and many others, from their close neighbors of Sabah, Brunei and Sarawak, to shop during the day and party at night.
