The room itself was fine, the gym was decent, the breakfast buffet was okay. The manager gave me exceptional service by letting me know I could book a train ticket on-line using his/the hotel credit card (since I did not have a Chinese credit
card) and I would pay him the amount of the ticket.
He spent about 30 minutes with me to go through the booking process. He printed out a confirmation slip (which was in Chinese) and he explained what it said. This saved me hours of time since I only speak a little Mandarin and I cannot read Chinese. The train and bus stations in Hangzhou do not have English-speaking info desks.
The drawback is that this hotel is 1/2 r from West Lake area which is the only tourist attraction and my reason for visiting. Hangzhou is a gigantic city and easy to get lost with limited help available in English.
Because of its location I would not recommend the hotel unless you are there for business.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Pay a $200 or more to stay at hotel that you know is very close to West Lake if you are there to see the Lake. Go to other sites to get accurate hotel map. Do not believe hotel descriptions or location map which was very far off.
