Gorgeous Retreat
The Four Seasons was absolutely amazing. I don't usually splurge on hotels like this, but it's just as gorgeous as in the photos. The staff, especially Stella and Kenny, were unbelievably nice and accommodating. One day, I came back to the hotel room to a complimentary spread of fruit and dessert, and a handwritten note from the two staff members we had been speaking with. The restaurants were great, as was the spa. We loved it so much, we didn't feel the need to leave the hotel grounds for the first day or two!

Entertainment tip:
Short walk from hotel
Zhang Yimou's light show on the West Lake is unbelievable. If you were a fan of the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony (or even if you're not), it's a must see. It's a 7 minute walk from the hotel, and the reception staff can get you tickets ahead of time.
