Aging Queen
This was our second stay in a year's time. First was ok, though we noted obvious wear on the building and room. Given its great location and courteous staff, we stayed and rated it decently. Our most recent visit in Nov. 2012 was a disaster! Very grimy, soiled carpets, dirty windows (inside and out), water and termite eaten woodwork and doors in bathroom and entry door, dirty grout in bathroom, one day of rusty water, one day of intermittent power outages, wifi only in Lobby Lounge. Maids don't even have a vaccum cleaner or carpet sweeper! Close to shopping, restaurants, the river, but won't stay there again. Unworthy of the Fairmont name.

Food abounds nearby. Very tasty, but beware of Sichuan spice! You can ask to tone it down, if you so desire. Local food is great, Western food like KFC, Papa Johns, Pizza Hut and McDonalds exist. McDonald burgers are different though! Try the Korean BBQ! Most chicken dishes comprise chopping up the whole chicken, bones included. Tasty but different. Most fish dishes are the whole fish too. Served steamed whole, or chopped up in sauce. Watch out for the bones, but excellent! Most try a massage, at one of the larger salons! Great experience and treatment!

I have stayed here on two other trips, and found it a good value and great location. This time, greatly disappointed in continued physical decline. Warped and termite eaten woodwork, leaky, dirty bathroom grout, very soiled carpet in rooms, maids do not vacuum, much less than shampoo rugs, one day of rust filled/unusable tap and shower water, dirty windows (inside and out). NOT a 4 Star hotel or experience! Location is great, but I will not stay there again or recommend it.

Shopping readily available in all directions! Walk to array of small shops and boutiques. Short cab ride to malls at Chunxi Rd. and Tianfu Plaza!! Good food choices nearby and by taxi.

Great Value and Location!
Excellent hotel overall! Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room, good tv, etc. Bathroom was spacious, but showed a little wear in spots. No room safe to secure valuables. But location is stupendous! Overlooks the riverwalk, close to shopping and dining, easy bus or taxi access. Making my second stay there!

Great dining in the hotel, and directly across the riverwalk from the hotel are several nice, small restaurants! Good food, good pricing! Nice shopping right up the street too!
