Follow the crowd to this spacious, stylish hotel on Wangfujing Street
The 10-story Prime Hotel Beijing opened on Wangfujing Street in 1992. The property has stayed current with several renovations and remains a popular tour-group choice because of its value. The 400 spacious and stylish rooms are comfortable retreats after a day of exploring the many top Beijing shops and tourist attractions that lie within a 15-minute walk of the hotel. Business travelers appreciate the meeting facilities, while leisure travelers take advantage of the full spa and fitness center.
Highlights
- Prime location on Wangfujing shopping street
- 15 minutes from Forbidden City
- 400 spacious and stylish rooms
- Full spa and fitness center
Rooms
The 400 spacious rooms -- 25 of them suites -- include a laptop-sized safe, mini-bar, bathrobe, separate shower and tub, desk, free high-speed Internet, and flat-screen television with 60 satellite channels. The rooms combine traditional and contemporary design elements: Chinese watercolors and embroidered scenes, floral bed runners and chairs, streamlined furniture, eye-catching circle-patterned carpeting. Superior rooms on lower floors measure 408 square feet, while deluxe rooms on higher floors measure 451 square feet.
Features
The Emperor restaurant resembles an imperial dining hall, awash in red and gold and adorned in the traditional dragon and phoenix symbols. Guests can dine in royal style on Cantonese cuisine at the Emperor or sample cuisine from around the world at Café Wangfujing's international buffet. The café serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
For recreation, guests can soak in the sauna, steam room, or hot tub, or bring their swim caps and take a dip in the pool. Guests can also work out in the fitness center and relax afterward with a Thai-style massage in the full-service spa. A tour center books sightseeing trips and airline tickets.

Prime Hotel Beijing
I checked in late at night after the airline misplaced my luggage and was pleased to get a free upgrade to a better room than I had booked. The only weird thing was having to charge a deposit onto my credit card at check-in. Other than that, the staff was friendly and the room was comfortable.

This is a great hotel and the
This is a great hotel and the staffs are friendly and polite. They helped me to locate some packages efficiently and always helped us to get a taxi without any complaints. The location is excellent and it will be even better because the subway will be extended to the intersection of the hotel next year. I did not rank the facilities very good because the hotel card somehow got "demagnetized" from time to time and the room we stayed does not have fan in the bathroom. I did not rank pricing very good because the local calls are charged. Otherwise, we had a pleasant stay.

VERY NICE
We stayed in 2 other hotels while in China, and this one was by far the nicest as far as the quality of the rooms. The rooms were very nice, beautifully decorated, and comfortable. The only downside to this hotel is that there is not a close-by subway station, you have to walk quite a few blocks to get to the nearest station. HOwever, it is on Wangfujing street which is a great street for walking and shopping.

The location is a walk-away to
The location is a walk-away to the WangFujing night market where you get to eat the infamous fried scorpion, starfish and sea horse. The sheets were always clean and the bathroom was really big. However, buffet breakfast had little variety. The ONE IMPORTANT THING YOU HAVE TO WATCH OUT FOR in this hotel are the people manning the Concierge. They charge you more than what is necessary. For example, getting a cab to the airport where they first charged us 300rmb which we found very outrageous considering the airport is only 40 minutes away.Hence, we declined. But later on, we got to talk with the hotel manager, he gave it for 200rmb which is the regular price. We also asked the concierge to have our train tickets refunded so they charged us an extra 100rmb for that which they said was for going to the train station, when the station was only 10 minutes away! So our advice is...always deal with the Hotel manager and not the people at the concierge when it comes to bargaining about the price.
