Excellent value for money - the
Excellent value for money - the best I have experienced in Beijing to date. Rooms are much larger than other hotels of similar ratings and the facilities are much better, and cleaner. Location is excellent in terms of accessing Beijing or Beijing South railway stations while it is great that the Temple of Heaven and Pearl Market are within walking distance.

Peixin Hotel
Terrible Experience starting with check in as the hotel did not have our reservation or rooms. We showed them the confirmation and they said they only had one room and the price was higher. NO CHOICE, stayed the night, and moved to the Hilton in Beijing for the remaining of our stay. Location is not good and the staff was rude, even with our son speking to them in Mandarin.

1st time to China
great value
Staying at the Peixin allows you to experience Beijing in a family neighborhood setting instead of the hustle and bustle of the city center. We stayed there 4 nights and really liked the proximity to the Temple Of Heaven which is wonderful to visit on Sundays. Going on summer evenings walks, eating and shopping are very relaxed and enjoyable when all the locals are out walking their dogs and playing and exercising at the local plaza. You do have to take taxis to get to all the places you want to visit, but, it's so nice returning to a neighborhood where you can walk around without fearing you'll be run over by a car, like downtown. After our stay at the Peixin we went to a hotel right in the heart of the Wanfunjing District. We were in the middle of everything, but, the hotel costs 3 times more per night and the room was about one fourth the size as the Peixin. (We had a business room at the Peixin). That made us realize what a great value the Peixin was. When we first made our reservations we were a little leary fearing that for such a low price there must be something wrong with this hotel. We were pleasantly surprised that it was as nice as it was. A 4 star is a fair rating. The staff at the Peixin was always very friendly and as helpful as they could be, but, at times the staff members on duty were very challenged with their English. If you want to split you stay in Beijing between different types of neighborhoods then the Peixin is in a nice area you would want to consider. If you want to be in the middle of the city with what it offers you will be disappointed here. If you want to experience the culture of the old and the new China in a setting where there are many locals and few tourists, then you will like this area.

Short walk from hotel
We ate at several of the local small restuarants. We never paid more than $10.00 US for 2 full sized meals with soft drinks. They were well balanced with meat entries, tofu entries and vegetable sides. (We never got sick on our whole 2 week stay in China). A few blocks west there is a McDonald's and Subway. There's a nice shopping center with a huge grocery store and many shops on the main street just north of the hotel. You can shop there with no where near the pressure you get at the tourists traps. Nice bakery at the plaza, vendors with fruits, food, dvd's, and other goods. Men's haircut with shampoo before and after, just $3.00 US. Buy a badminton set and play like the locals at the plaza. Just east of the Temple of Heaven there is great shopping for sport shirts and shoes.

the staff were friendly and helpful.
the staff were friendly and helpful. the room although standard was great and the bed was really comfortable. pillows were also great. it is rare in china to get a comfortable not hard bed and this was tops. the amentities in hotel were not used by me but would imagine them to be of top standard. foyer was very spacious, clean and lighting was subdued. very relaxing atmosphere
